The course played a little tougher going into the final round of the Peach-Palmetto Women's Showdown with a nice steady 10mph breeze. Both teams came out of the shoot ready to battle keeping all matches close to even through most of the front nine. However, at the turn, team GA regrouped and started throwing darts at pins to start closing out matches. Three SC players swept their matches for Team SC. They were Kerry Rutan, Pam Prescott, Dawn Woodard, scoring 2 1/2 Rachel Wyatt and taking half a point was Lea Venable. Unfortunately, not enough to take home the trophy.
The Peach - Palmetto Women's Showdown was a great success showcasing the talent of Women's Golf in both Georgia and South Carolina. Lead by the talented and accomplished Captains on each team, Karin Wolfe for South Carolina and Sydney Weaver for Georgia. Great golf, competitive spirits, and new life long friendships were showcased and created. Amongst the wonderful facility at Wild Dunes Resort - Links Course, top notch housing, enjoyable meals, and team bonding on the course and off. Moments that will last a lifetime.
This event will be held next in 2023 and hosted by Georgia. So until then, enjoy the upcoming WSCGA season, think birdies, keep smiling, and we will see you soon.
