Georgia Tech vs

North Carolina set for Primetime Kickoff

on Saturday

Last week, the ACC put the game time for Georgia Tech and North Carolina on a six-day hold, but the game time was announced for the Yellow Jackets homecoming matchup and surprisingly, it will be in primetime.

Georgia Tech and North Carolina are going to kick off at 8:00 on the ACC Network. This is the second time that Georgia Tech has gotten the 8:00 slot on ACC Network this season and the last time they did, they beat Miami.

In addition to homecoming festivities and ACCN’s on-campus programming, the Oct. 28 game against UNC will feature Georgia Tech’s On-Campus Salute to Paul Johnson in honor of his upcoming induction to the College Football Hall of Fame.

Both of these teams are coming off of losses Saturday, Georgia Tech losing as a home favorite to Boston College and North Carolina losing in the upset of the day against 1-5 Virginia. Both teams are looking to bounce back and, for Georgia Tech, it will be about keeping their bowl game hopes alive and for the Tar Heels, it will be about trying to stay alive in the ACC Championship race.

Outside of Georgia Tech fans, most would not know that the Yellow Jackets have won two in a row and four of the last five against North Carolina. Georgia Tech also leads in the all-time series 32-21.

Last season, Georgia Tech held UNC to its season-low in points, in total yards, and Heisman-contending quarterback Drake Maye to his season-low in total passing yards, and the Yellow Jackets pulled a stunning upset as a three-touchdown underdog. Let's see if the Yellow Jackets have another surprise up their sleeve on Saturday night.

Georgia Tech's HC Brent Key's Press Conference

Miami Preview

Georgia Tech is preparing for its showdown with No. 17 North Carolina this weekend and when the Tar Heels come to town, they are going to bring one of the best offenses in the ACC.

Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key knows who the offenses revolves around:

"Their quarterback. They have good skill players, they added a skill player a couple of weeks ago that is a dynamic and explosive player that added a lot to it. They are able to get their running backs going but it goes through Drake (Maye), it is pretty obvious.

"They have a lot of experience up front on their offensive line, their coordinator and play caller is doing a good job of doing stuff that Drake is comfortable with and playing through or calling the game through his eyes. They are a well rounded team and the quarterback is what makes it go and his ability to get the ball out and get it to his playmakers."

North Carolina Head Coach

Mack Brown Presser Previewing Georgia Tech

Both North Carolina and Georgia Tech are coming off of disappointing losses over the weekend and have to regroup before facing each other in Atlanta on Saturday.

Outside of Georgia Tech fans, most would not know that the Yellow Jackets have won two in a row and four of the last five against North Carolina.

"Georgia Tech is a game that has been tough for us. Atlanta has not been good to the Tar Heels, we have lost 10 of 12. Hear me now. We have lost 10 of the last 12 games in Atlanta to Georgia Tech.

"Everyone thinks that we have Miami's number because we have beaten them five in a row...well, Georgia Tech has had North Carolina's number, and before I got here, in Atlanta so that makes this a game where people project that we lose. Period. Because we have. 10 out of 12 is pretty good percentages.

"They will be excited and they will feel like they are going to win because they have and we will have our hands full.

"Brent Key has done a great job, he is a Georgia Tech alum and has pulled them all together and they are playing really hard and he will have them ready to go with a whole lot of energy and we have to do the same thing"

Damon Stoudamire is the latest coach looking to make Georgia Tech relevant again

Damon Stoudamire is hoping to succeed at a place where three others failed before him.

Once a perennial college basketball powerhouse, Georgia Tech has struggled for nearly two decades to become relevant again.

Now that burden falls to Stoudamire, the longtime NBA guard who took over as the Yellow Jackets coach after the firing of Josh Pastner.

Stoudamire is focusing on all aspects of the program, on and off the court.

“Usually, if you're doing something wrong inside the lines, you're not living right outside the lines," he said. “I always tell ‘em, ’If I come over to your apartment right now, do you make your bed in the morning? Did you wash your dishes?'”

ACC Weekly Report: Click Here

Georgia Tech closes a two-game homestand with a primetime, homecoming showdown versus No. 17 North Carolina on Saturday night at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field.

• Georgia Tech is looking to knock off a nationally ranked North Carolina squad for the third-straight season. Tech defeated No. 21/20 UNC, 45-22, in 2021 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and topped the No. 13/11-ranked Tar Heels, 21-17, last season in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series with North Carolina, 32-22-3, including wins in four of the last five matchups. Tech is also 20-9 all-time against the Tar Heels at home.

• After dropping a 38-23 decision to Boston College last Saturday at Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field, Georgia Tech is looking to continue its season-long pattern of alternating losses and wins. Tech also alternated wins and losses over the final four games of last season, meaning it has not had the same result in consecutive games since it lost back-to-back contests to Virginia and Florida State on Oct. 20 and 29 of last season.

No. 11 Georgia Tech volleyball (17-3, 8-2 ACC), coming off its best 20-match start in the Michelle Collier era, will travel north for a pair of ACC road matches against Boston College (14-10, 3-7 ACC) and Syracuse (2-18, 0-10 ACC).

Tech is coming off of a two match win streak against Duke and North Carolina, defeating both in four sets.

The Jackets are two road wins away from their 10th of the season, a feat achieved in just six previous seasons, most recently in 2021.

The Eagles are coming off a three set loss at Miami on Sunday. Last time out, The Orange lost to Miami and Florida State on the road.  Both the BC and Syracuse games can be seen on ACC Network Extra.
