Lumpkin County Holds Groundbreaking for New Pool and Multi-Use Facility


Lumpkin County held a groundbreaking for the county’s new pool and multi-use facility. Construction on the eight-lane community/competition use pool, lazy river with two slides, and multi-use building including two basketball courts with lines for volleyball and pickle ball officially started this week. The county's goal is to open the facility in spring 2024.

Barrow County Commissioner Alex Ward Participates in Leadership Barrow Public Safety Day


Barrow County Commissioner Alex Ward volunteered to be tased to personally understand what law enforcement officers go through when they carry a taser. He saw Leadership Barrow’s public safety day as a perfect opportunity to witness someone getting tased in person while spending time with the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office to learn about the range of less-than-lethal options available to them.

Henry County Celebrates Women in the Workplace


In continued celebration and recognition of Women's History and Empowerment Month, Henry County Manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews hosted a Coffee & Conversation event with employees and women throughout the county. Matthews shared her journey to leadership and stressed the importance of women empowering each other as they progress professionally.

Clayton County Solicitor-General's Executive Assistant Becomes First African American Woman on Cover of UltraRunning Magazine


The Clayton County Solicitor’s Office would like to congratulate Aisha Jordan-Johnson, the Solicitor-General’s Executive Assistant for her noteworthy achievement in being the first African American woman on the cover of The UltraRunning Magazine.


Johnson is a lifelong distance runner whose longest race was 138 miles. Since being employed with the Clayton County Solicitor-General’s office she has placed 1st and 2nd in three community races. She is a wife and mother of two, who enjoys art and Capoeira when she is not participating in ultra-marathons. Congratulations to Ms. Johnson on such a historical and epic achievement. The cover photo is of Ms. Johnson running a 62-mile race in Glen Rose, Texas.

Coweta County Unveils New Basketball Court


Coweta County Parks and Rec recently added a brand new basketball court in Sargent Park. The new addition has quickly become a county favorite, as kids took to the court immediately after it was unveiled. The new basketball court at Sargent Park is located in the western part of Coweta County.

2023 Legislative Session Comes To A Close


The ACCG Governmental Affairs Team was all smiles on Legislative Day 40, also known as Sine Die, as the 2023 legislation session came to a close on Wednesday, March 29. ACCG is thankful to all county officials for their engagement and feedback provided throughout the session. Click here for a recap of what important bills made it past the critical, final day.
