ACCG Policy Team Wraps Up Another Legislative Session

The Georgia General Assembly marked Sine Die (the final day of the 40-day legislative session) on March 31. ACCG's policy team accomplished many of the legislative priorities set by county officials and also worked hard negotiating county positions on other complex issues such as elections. Thank you to our policy team, led by Clint Mueller (not pictured), Todd Edwards, Kathleen Bowen, Larry Ramsey and Debra Nesbit for their hard work.

Newton County Celebrates Judges

as Part of Women's History Month

As Women's History Month comes to an end, Newton County celebrates for the first time in its history a strong contingent of female judges among its judiciary. Greene County Adds Full-Time Paid Staffing to Fire Rescue Department

Monday was a historic and pivotal day for Greene County. It marked the culmination of almost two years of strategic planning and preparation as 18 firefighters reported for their first day as full-time, paid career firefighters to provide emergency fire protection services to all of Greene County. Volunteer fire departments will continue to operate in the cities, along some private volunteer departments in the county.

Expanding Access to COVID-19 Vaccines for Northwest Georgia

A partnership between Catoosa, Dade and Walker counties is expanding access to COVID-19 vaccines in northwest Georgia. The Catoosa-Dade-Walker Vaccination Station at the Colonnade leverages a location in Ringgold and resources from all three counties and their partnering agencies. This regional approach allows for vaccine appointment hours to include evenings and weekends, maximizing the use of approximately 50 personnel each day without compromising first responder staffing for day-to-day operations within the counties. A one-stop online portal (www.catoosa.info/vaccine) provides area residents with quick access to scheduling vaccine appointments.

DPH Mega-Vaccination Event Provides Surplus Vaccines to Troup County Employees & Others

Employees from Troup County, the City of LaGrange and their families were able to receive their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as a result of surplus doses following a mega-event for vaccinations held by the Georgia Department of Public Health. Between the mega-event site and the local government employees, more than 1,350 vaccinations were given.

About Taliah: Taliah looks forward to traveling to each continent of the world! She enjoys growing plants indoors, but admits she's still strengthening her green thumb and has killed more than a few plants. She is the youngest of two children and is an awesome (but admittedly corny) aunt. Her parents just celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary.
