Newton County Commissioner Alana Sanders Elected to Serve in Several NACo Leadership Positions


Newton County Commissioner Alana Sanders has been appointed to many prestigious positions within the National Association of Counties (NACo), underscoring her dedication to advancing county governance and serving the needs of her community. Commissioner Sanders has been elected to serve as National Secretary - Commissioner for the Women of NACo, Chair for the Next Generation Network, Vice Chair for the Programs and Services Standing Committee, and Subcommittee Vice Chair of the Education, Children's, and Families of the Human Services and Education Steering Committee.

Clayton County Deputy Chief Operations Officer Landry Merkison Appointed to Serve on Georgia Emergency Medical Service Advisory Council


Clayton County Deputy Chief Operations Officer Landry Merkison was recently appointed to serve on the Georgia Emergency Medical Service Advisory Council. In this role, Merkison will represent local governments service providers on the council.

Crisp County Power Commissions Host Meet & Greet With General Manager


The Crisp County Power Commission held a meet and greet to introduce their new General Manager, Chris Hewitt. Prior to becoming general manager, Hewitt dedicated 17 years to the Power Commission in various positions. During the event, Hewitt was welcomed by two former Crisp County Power Commission general managers.

Mindy Bates Named Director of Lowndes County Permits and Inspections Department


Mindy Bates has been named the new Director of the Lowndes County Permits and Inspections Department. As the new Director, Bates will ensure property owners and the building and development community obtain proper permits.

Forsyth County Hosts Northern Policy Committee Meetings


The Northern Policy Committee meetings took place in Forsyth County this week. County officials from across the state attended the meetings to discuss policy objectives for the 2024 session of the General Assembly. Topics voted on during the meeting will be presented to the ACCG Policy Council prior to being finalized at the Legislative Leadership Conference in October.

2023 ACCG Legislative Leadership Conference - Registration Now Open

Registration is open now for the Legislative Leadership Conference. Join ACCG, your county colleagues, and state leaders on October 11-13 at the Jekyll Island Convention Center in Glynn County for the Association’s fall policy conference. Attend the LLC to ensure your county's concerns are considered when voting on the 2024 Proposed Policy Agenda and Legislative Priorities and to participate in several engaging educational opportunities.
