Harris County Holds Ribbon Cutting on Water Works Administrative Facility


Harris County recently held a ribbon cutting for its new Water Works Administrative Facility. The new facility, costing $1.7 Million, includes a new customer service space, a drive-up window, conference space, office/work space, and extra room for future growth.

Floyd County Officers Participate in Back-to-School Drive


Floyd County Officers participated in the Bless Coalition Supplies for Success event hosted by a local church. The event helps to provide backpacks and school supplies to children, as well as assist with car seat inspections and installations for parents.

Houston County Sheriff Honored for 50 Years of Service


The Houston County Board of Commissioners recently honored longstanding Sherriff Chief William (Billy) Rape for his 50 years of service to the community. Those who joined in celebration included Houston County commissioners, Chairman Dan Perdue, and Houston County Sherriff Cullen Talton.

Fayette County Holds Ribbon Cutting for Completion of Project at Inman Road.


The Fayette County Board of Commissioners recently held a ribbon cutting for the completion of the 2017 SPLOST Category II Tier II project at Inman Road. Completed work consisted of demolishing existing double 96-inch corrugated metal pipes and replacing them with 56 LF double 8'x8' reinforced concrete box culverts.

Polk County Volunteer Fire Department Makes Donation to Overseas Firefighters


Recently the Polk County Volunteer Fire Department donated almost a full trailer of turnout gear and air packs to firefighters overseas. The used equipment would otherwise end up in a landfill, but with the help of Emergency Services Ministries the equipment is now going to overseas areas including the western Dominican Republic, an area that is impoverished and currently has limited to no fire protection. Douglas County Assistant County Administrator to Serve on NACo Board of Directors


Tiffany Stewart-Stanley, Douglas County's Chief of Staff and Assistant County Administrator was recently elected to serve on the National Association of Counties (NACo) Board of Directors. Stewart-Stanley is serving on the board as president of the National Association of County Intergovernmental Relations Officials (NACIRO) a professional organization of intergovernmental relations officials and county advocates who represent counties to ensure federal policy benefits local governments.

ACCG Hosts Federal Policy Committee Meeting


More than 30 county officials attended the recent Federal Policy Committee meeting in Baldwin County. Attendees heard firsthand from the NACo Director of Government Affairs & Federal Fellowship Institute Eryn Hurley on current federal funding available to Georgia counties. The Committee also took time to recommend policy objectives and share what they are experiencing in their counties.

Mark your calendars for the 2023 Legislative Leadership Conference (LLC). Join ACCG, your county colleagues, and state leaders on October 11-13 at the Jekyll Island Convention Center in Glynn County for the association’s fall policy conference. Attend the LLC to ensure your county's concerns are considered when voting on the 2024 Proposed Policy Agenda and Legislative Priorities and to participate in several engaging educational opportunities.
