Congresswoman Lucy McBath and Senator Jon Ossoff Visit Gwinnett County
Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson and District 1 Commissioner Kirkland Carden joined state and national leaders for an informational briefing on the Chattahoochee River Act. Sen. Jon Ossoff and U.S. Congresswoman Lucy McBath were also in attendance and spoke on the Chattahoochee River Act which was signed into law in December 2022 as part of the Water Resources and Development Act. The new law aims to improve water quality, protect essential public works, and restore ecosystems along rivers.
Whitfield County District Attorney Sworn in as New Conasauga Circuit District Attorney
New Conasauga Circuit District Attorney Benjamin Bruce Kenemer took his oath of office during a swearing-in on Wednesday, August 9th. After receiving his appointment in June, friends, family, and colleagues gathered to watch Gov. Kemp make the appointment official at the ceremony.
Newton County Hosts 2023 Family Fun Day
Newton County recently hosted the 2023 Family Fun Day in Legion Field. The event included live music, outdoor inflatables, face painting, live county equipment demonstrations, food, prizes, and more.
Cobb County Welcomes First Autonomous Shuttle
Cobb County officials joined the Cumberland CID for a ribbon cutting ceremony announcing the debut of the county's first autonomous shuttle. The "Hopper" will run through next March as a trial to see if it can efficiently move people around the heavily populated part of Cobb County. The Cumberland CID hopes autonomous vehicles will play a crucial part in their "Cumberland Sweep" project designed to find better ways to move residents, workers, and visitors around the area.
Walker County Unveils New Mural
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held recently to mark the completion of the Walker Rocks Mural in LaFayette on the exterior wall of Walker County Courthouse Annex II. Over the past two months, artist Jonathan Bidwell made the exterior wall of Annex II his canvas. Armed with a variety of colorful paints, Bidwell transformed a plain concrete block wall into a work of art.
Toombs County Hosts ACCG Southern Policy Committee Meeting
The Southern Policy Committee meeting took place in Toombs County this week. County officials from across the state attended the meeting to discuss policy objectives for the 2024 session of the General Assembly.
