Sen. Max Burns (District 23) was awarded a 2023 Legislative Service Award during the Biennial Institute for Georgia Legislators in Athens-Clarke County. Sen. Burns, a former member of the Screven County Board of Commissioners, was recognized for his work on legislation regarding development authorities and election reform. As Chair of the Senate Ethics Committee, he led a robust discussion on development authorities and their ability to abate taxes resulting in him both introducing and passing a study committee on this topic. Sen. Burns has also been a conscientious Chair of the Senate Ethics Committee particularly when leading discussions on election reform legislation. |
