ACCG-GSIWCF Honors Henry County Commissioner Bruce Holmes

Members of the ACCG Group Self-Insurance Workers' Compensation Fund (ACCG-GSIWCF) recently honored outgoing Henry County Commissioner Bruce Holmes for his dedicated service on the Board. Holmes served on the ACCG-GSIWCF Board since 2015.

Lowndes County Employees Selected for Leadership Lowndes Class of 2023

Lowndes County employees Gary Williams (left), Assistant Chief with Lowndes County Fire Rescue, and Rachel Thrasher, (right) Community Development Director have been selected to participate in the Leadership Lowndes Class of 2023. Lowndes County Manager Paige Dukes (center) has been named President of Leadership Lowndes for 2023. 

Leadership Lowndes was established in 1988 as a program to build a better Lowndes County by exposing existing and emerging leaders to local challenges and opportunities, building networks that seek to address long-term solutions to community needs, and preparing members for a more active role in community leadership.

Jasper County County Celebrates the Holidays with Annual Christmas Parade

ACCG Honors Sen. Max Burns with Legislative Service Award

Sen. Max Burns (District 23) was awarded a 2023 Legislative Service Award during the Biennial Institute for Georgia Legislators in Athens-Clarke County. Sen. Burns, a former member of the Screven County Board of Commissioners, was recognized for his work on legislation regarding development authorities and election reform. As Chair of the Senate Ethics Committee, he led a robust discussion on development authorities and their ability to abate taxes resulting in him both introducing and passing a study committee on this topic. Sen. Burns has also been a conscientious Chair of the Senate Ethics Committee particularly when leading discussions on election reform legislation. 

ACCG Policy Team Hosts Atlanta Metro Counties Policy Meeting

The ACCG Policy Team is preparing for the start of the 2023 legislative session. The team recently hosted a meeting with the governmental affairs staffs from counties in the metro Atlanta area. Be sure to review the 2023 Legislative Toolkit to familiarize yourself with ACCG's Policy Agenda for the upcoming session.

Bulloch County Honors Inaugural Management Development Program Graduates

Bulloch County held a graduation ceremony for its inaugural Management Development Program class. The nationally recognized MDP program is offered by The University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Twenty-five existing and emerging county personnel spanning 15 departments, including Bulloch County’s Tax Commissioner, completed the program. Bulloch County owes great thanks to CVIOG, and especially the course instructor Eric Robinson who received wide praise from the graduates.
