ACCG President and Bartow County Commissioner Steve Taylor, ACCG Second Vice President and Baldwin County Chairman Henry Craig, ACCG First Vice President and Tift County Commissioner Melissa Hughes, and ACCG Third Vice President and Toombs County Chairman David Sikes joined the rest of the ACCG Board of Managers this week for their winter meeting which was held in Bartow County at Barnsley Gardens. ACCG Staff Out & About
ACCG Associate Legislative Director Kathleen Bowen (far right) joined a harvester with Shepherd Brothers Timber Company, Jones County Chairman Chris Weidner and Georgia Forestry Commission Executive Director Tim Lowrimore this week to work on an informational video on the new timber harvest notification website.
Leadership Development Coordinator Nicole Logan recently participated in the Georgia Clerks Education Institute (GCEI) Strategic Navigation Session in Athens. CVIOG Associate Director of Governmental Training, Education and Development Mara Shaw facilitated the session, which included representatives from counties and cities as well as ACCG and GMA. The group also enjoyed an evening visiting the Winter Wonderlights at the State Botanical Gardens.
County Officials Gather in DeKalb County for NACo's LUCC Symposium
More than 200 county officials from across the nation gathered in DeKalb County last week for NACo's Large Urban County Caucus Symposium. While in DeKalb County, they received a firsthand look into the services and programs the county offers its residents, many of which can be replicated in the home communities of the meeting attendees. Franklin County Celebrates
Hometown Heroes
Franklin County recently joined with community partners to host a county-wide celebration of local veterans and public safety personnel. The county dedicated the newly completed Veterans Memorial Plaza which features memorial statues surrounded by bricks and tiles purchased in honor of veterans and public safety personnel. The event also featured a parade, community activities for all ages, craft and shop booths and other events. It concluded with a candelight service and fireworks.
Dodge County Officials & DNR Celebrate Renovation
Opening of Boat Ramp
Dodge County officials and Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) representatives recently celebrated the re-opening of the Ochise Landing Boat Ramp. This ramp will give boaters, paddlers and anglers improved access to the Ocmulgee River. The ramp was originally built using concrete slabs from a nearby airport runway demolition project and was a county-operated public boat ramp. Since 2017, the county has leased the site to DNR. It now includes a 16-foot-wide concrete boat ramp, 8 parking spaces for trailered vehicles, 5 additional car spaces and ADA parking.
Christmas in Columbia County
For the past two years, the Columbia County Administration has teamed up with the GIS Department to create an interactive map featuring Christmas displays. This year, they mixed things up a bit and hosted a Christmas Light Fight competition. They also partnered with Community Events and the GIS team to create a Christmas in Columbia County hub site to provide information about county events and the Christmas Light Fight participants and voting.

She enjoys travelling, reading, hiking, playing tennis and hanging out with her grandchildren. Cheryl had a virtual business before virtual was "cool" and once taught Lamaze to a famous musician and his wife.
