The ACCG Board of Managers said thank you and best wishes to five of its past presidents this week as they conclude their terms of elected public service. On behalf of counties across the state, ACCG extends its appreciation for the tremendous impact these individuals have had on the association: Oglethorpe County Chairman Billy Pittard, Walton County Chairman Kevin Little, Gwinnett County Chairman Charlotte Nash, Harris County Commissioner Harry Lange and Houston County Commissioner Tom McMichael. We wish you all the very best!

Congratulations to Marian McDaniel, who was named fire chief in Rockdale County this week. Chief McDaniel is the 12th African-American female fire chief in the United States and the first in Rockdale County. She takes the place of Fire Chief Dan Morgan, who has been named the first director of Rockdale County's new Emergency Management Agency (EMA).

Carroll County, in partnership with the City of Carrollton and other partners, has formed a Mobile Crisis Unit to provide help to people experiencing a mental health crisis. The unit consists of a police officer cross trained as a paramedic and a licensed mental health technician. The unit seeks to divert people experiencing mental health issues from the jail and reduce the amount of public safety resources taken out of service when a mental health crisis occurs. A local businessperson, Steve Adams, donated a Ford Explorer for the unit.

Congratulations to to Catoosa County Firefighter Sgt. Chad Hartman, recipient of the Award of Valor from the Catoosa County Board of Commissioners. Sgt. Hartman saved the life of a man who was steps away from taking his own life from the top of a tree. After patiently speaking with the man and gaining his trust, Sgt. Hartman climbed a ladder and brought the man to safety.

The interior of the new Baldwin County Government Building has taken on air of festivity! This new facility houses many county services, including code enforcement, planning, engineering, the tax commissioner's and tax assessor's offices and more. It also houses the county's elections, and wait times for the November election never exceeded five minutes.
