Holiday Spirit Filling the Air
Christmas parades lit up the night all across Georgia this week. In Walton County, community members gathered on the courthouse square and along Broad Street to watch the festivities, which this year celebrated the City of Monroe's 200th anniversity.
The downtown Cartersville parade in Bartow County on Thursday night featured the return of Lil' Millie, a restored 1952 GMC American LaFrance fire truck which was restored by Bartow County firefighters.
Georgia Local Leaders Head National Organizations
Local government leaders have taken the helm of two national organizations. DeKalb Couty Commissioner Larry Johnson (pictured left) was named President of the National Association of Counties in July and Union CIty Mayor Vince Williams was named President of the National League of Cities earlier In November, giving giving the state some powerful voices on behalf of local governments across the country in Washington, D.C. Congratulations to these two terrific leaders!
ACCG Safety Grant Funds Fund
the Purchase of New Medic Bags
Jefferson County Commissioners recently presented Jefferson County Sheriff Charles (Gary) Hutchins and Chief Deputy Tim Moore with four emergency response bags. These bags were purchased through a safety grant that was provided to the county through ACCG Insurance Programs. Additional safety items were distributed to other departments, according Robert Yonchak, Safety Coordinator, and Bonnie Wells, County Clerk.
Winter Weather Preparedness Week: December 6 - 10
Georgia might have above average temperatures right now, but the cold weatehr is coming soon! The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency, in partnership with the National Weather Service and the Georgia Department of Transportation, is gearing up for Winter Weather Preparedness Week, December 6 - 10. This week is designed to raise awareness of winter weather hazards and reinforce understanding of weather terminology. To access tips and a toolkit for your county, click here.

About Tottianna: Marian loves animals. Her childhood dream was to become a veterinarian, but her allergies had other plans. She enjoys travelling locally and abroad and hopes to start traveling again. Some of her other hobbies are kickboxing, boxing and watching Golden Girls reruns (no matter how many times she has already seen the episode). She enjoys spending time with her parents, nieces, nephews, and her fur-nephew.
