ACCG Board of Managers, Georgia County Officials, and Staff Travel to D.C. for NACo Legislative Conference

Georgia county officials traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to network with their county peers from across the country at the NACo Legislative Conference. While in D.C., they also participated in the annual ACCG Wreath Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and met with their members of Georgia's congressional delegation at their D.C. offices.

A custom wreath, bearing 159 red and white carnations representing all 159 Georgia counties, is laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier by an official four-person Wreath Party.

Cindy Mills, Forsyth County Commissioner and NACo rep for the ACCG Board of Managers, visits Rep. Rich McCormick's D.C. office.

Rockdale County Officials Meet with

Senator Jon Ossoff


While attending the NACo Legislative Conference, Rockdale County officials met with Sen. Jon Ossoff and his staff to discuss the issues they are facing in their county.

Georgia County Officials Participate in

NACIRO Meeting


During the NACo Legislative Conference, Georgia county officials participated in the National Association of Counties Intergovernmental Relations Officials (NACIRO) Meeting. Douglas County Chief of Staff/Assistant County Administrator Tiffany Stewart serves as President of NACIRO.

Chatham County Leaders Attend Capitol Hill Briefing Focused on Leadership and Mental Health


To conclude the NACo Legislative Conference, Chatham County officials attended the Capitol Hill Briefing: Leadership in Mental Health: Overcoming Barriers for Equitable Care Access. During this session, Chatham County leaders had the opportunity to share insights and learn from other county leaders about ensuring equitable access to mental health resources for residents in need.

Keep Cherokee Beautiful Awarded 2023 Governor's Circle Award


Keep Cherokee Beautiful (KCB) received the 2023 Governor's Circle Award this week. Presented by the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, this prestigious award recognizes local programs for their outstanding achievements in litter reduction, waste minimization, and community greening efforts.

Fayette County Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Walking Path


The Fayette County Board of Commissioners recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Camp Creek Phase 1 Path Project. The walking path at Gristmill Drive extends the existing walking area for residents.
