The ACCG Capitol Connection Conference Returns

ACCG reintroduced its Capitol Connection Conference to offer county officials more opportunities to learn and connect with state leaders white the General Assembly is in session. For two days, attendees participated in Lifelong Learning Academy classes, networked with state legislators, and received capitol updates from various speakers including Gov. Kemp, House Speaker Jon Burns, state agency heads, and the ACCG Governmental Affairs team.

GEMA/HS Presents Disaster Relief Check to Telfair County


Telfair County, one of 12 additional counties approved for Direct Temporary Housing Assistance from FEMA, was awarded $12.9 million in disaster relief funds. Commissioners Bradshaw and Sirmans, along with their EMA Director, GEMA, and FEMA, worked diligently to secure these critical funds for the county.

Clayton County Receives National Award for its Efforts to Close the Digital Divide

The Clayton County Office of Digital Equity (ODE) was awarded the 2024 Visionary Digital Inclusion Trailblazer award from the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) for taking significant steps to close the digital divide in Clayton County. NDIA Trailblazers serve as models for other local governments that aspire to build digital inclusion ecosystems. 

New Workforce Development Center to Positively Impact Cobb County

CobbWorks celebrated the grand opening of the new Cobb WorkSource Center in Mableton, Ga., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the newly renovated building. The 10,000-square-foot facility will operate as a full-service workforce development center and co-working space, providing job seekers and businesses with a wealth of free resources and services. 

GCIP Intern Gets Hands-On Experience with the Macon-Bibb County Attorney's Office


Grace Choi, a second-year law student at Emory University, interned with the county attorney’s office in Macon-Bibb County where she assisted with legislation and litigation, conducted legal research, and coordinated with officials. She also participated in various day-to-day projects and general office operations.

Lowndes County Fire Rescue Receives Life-Saving Donation


SGMC Health EMS, in partnership with the SGMC Health Foundation, donated six Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to Lowndes County Fire Rescue through the Jump Start a Heart program. These life-saving devices will help first responders provide immediate, critical care during cardiac emergencies, improving outcomes for those in need. 

Monroe County Participates in the First Cohort of NACo's BRECC Action Challenge


Monroe County was one of eight communities selected for NACo's Building Resilient Economies in Coal Communities (BRECC) initiative. As part of the initiative, counties will participate in an action challenge, working with economic development experts for one year to develop and present a locally-driven economic diversification strategy to federal and policy partners.
