Influencing County Policy
for More than Four Decades
Do you recognize these familiar faces? Some of ACCG's current policy team members recently gathered other ACCG "legends" for lunch. County Officials Meet
with Senator Jon Ossoff
during Capitol Advocacy Day
Georgia commissioners participated in the National Association of Counties (NACo) Capitol Advocacy Day while at the recent Legislative Conference. Commissioners were able to advocate for county priorities at the federal level on Capitol Hill and met with Senator Jon Ossoff.
Columbia County Offers CTAE Workforce Showcase Competition
Columbia County recently held its second annual CTAE Workforce Showcase Competition. The county partnered with the school district, the sheriff's office and the chamber to offer an opportunity for over 200 students from five high schools to compete against one another showcasing their work-ready skills. The competition featured the following pathways: Agriculture, Automotive, Engineering, Health Sciences, JROTC, Law Enforcement, Teaching and Welding (pictured).
Harris County Opens New Park
The Harris County Board of Commissioners recently opened its new 125-acre Ellerslie Park. This passive park consistes of over 1.5 miles of walking trails around two lakes, a playground, a lakeside paviliion, a fishing dock, a renovated lodge, public fishing in the 12-acre lake and parking. The lodge with its veranda overlooking the lake is a perfect location for small corporate meetings.
Henry County Leaders Complete
Cohort Program
Eight executive leaders from Henry County and eight from Sante Fe Springs, California have been recognized for completing a year-long leadership development program facilitated by LeaderGov. The participants engaged in monthly workshops that focused on growing their understanding of themselves as leaders, developing and enhancing skills to achieve strategic goals and skills to help them have greater success leading and developing their teams.
Roderick Jolivette Sworn In as
New Douglas County Fire Chief
Roderick Jolivette recently was sworn in as Douglas County Fire Chief by Superior Court Judge WIlliam "Beau" McClain. Chief Jolivette is the first African American fire chief in the county's history. He is a fire service veteran with more than 37 years of experience with a background in administration, code enforcement, fire suppression systems, fire inspections and life safety. He also served in the U.S. Navy on nuclear submarines.
