Forsyth County's Elections Office Receives EAGLE Award


Forsyth County received a visit from Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger this week where he presented the Forsyth County Elections Office with a Georgia Election Administration Golden Leader in Excellence (EAGLE) Award. The County was recognized for its work in election security and innovation, and its willingness to be a testing hub for the new voter registration system GARViS.

Chattooga County's Stand-Alone Emergency Department Seeing Impact Since Opening


Chattooga County is celebrating the impact of its stand-alone emergency department since its grand opening in October 2023. Since its opening, Atrium Health Floyd has seen 5,000 patients and has continued to provide EMS services to Chattooga County residents.

Columbia County Hosts 4th Annual CTAE Workforce Showcase Competition


Columbia County hosted its 4th annual Career Technical Agricultural Education (CATE) Workforce Showcase Competition at the Columbia County Sheriff's Complex. The competition included 250 students representing five high schools. Students competed in the areas of agriculture, audiovisual, automotive, business, cosmetology, culinary, cyber, electrical, engineering, fire services, graphic design, health sciences, law enforcement, marketing, teaching, and welding.

Jackson County Solid Waste Superintendent Honored for Membership with NEGRSWMA


Jackson County Solid Waste Superintendent Tom Page was recognized during a recent Jackson County Board of Commissioners meeting for his membership in the Northeast Georgia Regional Solid Waste Management Authority (NEGRSWMA). Page was honored for his service on the authority for more than 30 years.

ACCG Presents Mental Health Resolutions to Governor Kemp


ACCG leadership met with Gov. Kemp at the Capitol this week to discuss mental health reform. During the meeting, they presented him with copies of resolutions adopted by all 159 counties urging the General Assembly to pass mental health reform legislation.
