Busy Week at the Capitol as Session Approaches Crossover Day (March 8)

Walker County Chairman Shannon Whitfield joined ACCG Associate Legislative Director Kathleen Bowen to testify against Senate Bill 118, which proposes to increase logging truck weight limits. Election legislation also is keeping ACCG's policy team busy this year with many bills poised to impact election administration if passed. Making a Difference in Baldwin County

Pictured left: Former Baldwin County Commissioner Tommy French and current District 2 Commissioner Kendrick Butts are responsible for a monthly food distribution for those in need in Baldwin County. For February, 14,000 pounds of food was distributed to 226 families and a total of 747 individuals. These two county officials partner with many local organizations to make this program work.

CVIOG Presents Certificates

to Clerks Virtually

Hats off to UGA's Carl Vinson Institute of Government (CVIOG) for presenting certificates earned through the Georgia Clerks Education Institute to city and county clerks virtually. Certificates were presented to those who completed the Georgia Certified Clerk certificate and the Masters certificate. Sumter County's Latoya McCants was one of the individuals recognized this week.

About Michele: While Michele has lived in the Atlanta area for almost 20 years, she grew up in Early County and still considers southwest Georgia to be home. She enjoys reading, concerts, hiking, travel, watching UGA football (although this activity might not always be joyful) and crafting. Michele says she's "owned" by a tabby cat named Maddy who allows her to live in her house.
