District 4 Columbus-Muscogee Councilor Toyia Tucker recently assisted with a law enforcement appreciation effort, thanks to a COUNTRY Financial Helping Heroes donation. The donation was used to provide HoneyBaked Ham lunches for all Columbus Police Department employees.

Newton County Commissioner Alana Sanders was recently elected vice-chairman and has hit the ground running in her community. In addition to assisting with food drives to assist those experienceing hardship, she has partnered with IKEA and local businesses to provide desks, laptops and other supplies to students, encouraged community projects to build relationships with law enforcement and assisted with securing materials for Breast Cancer Awareness walks.

The Lamar County Commission recently unveiled its centennial monument on the courthouse lawn. The county was founded on November 2, 1920 by an amendment to the State Constitution and was named after Lucius Quintus Cincinnatus Lamar. The county began its first day of operation on January 1, 1921. Congratulations to Dodge County Sheriff Lynn Sheffield, who is retiring after 40 years of service to the county and its citizens. Two Upson County Commissioners, Paul Jones (pictured left) and Lorenzo Wilder (pictured right), joined the ranks of thousands Georgians receiving their first COVID-19 vaccinations this week as part of Phase 1A+, which makes the vaccine available for healthcare workers, those working or living in long-term care facilities, public safety workers and those 65 and older. According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, Georgia is receiving 120,000 doses of the vaccination weekly and that number is expected to increase in the weeks ahead.

About Brent: Brent has had many interesting experiences! He served as a goodwill ambassador to both Germany and Japan, traveled extensively around the world and visited all but three states. His extensive business, public and civic service gives him a better understanding of part-time commissioners and helps him to assist county governments, commissioners, staff, business partners and sponsors. Brent has jumped out of 22 airplanes, and the last jump was at 10,000 feet. He lives in Forsyth County with his wife, Leigh, and has three sons, Stephen (23), Michael (21) and Charles (19).
