Georgia County Leaders Named to Georgia Trends 100 Most Influential and Notable Georgians Lists

Congratulations to the five Georgia county leaders named in Georgia Trends 100 Most Influential Georgians and Notable Georgians lists. Among the leaders recognized are ACCG Executive Director Dave Wills, Cobb County Chair Lisa Cupid, DeKalb County CEO Michael Thurmond, Gwinnett County Chair Nicole Hendrickson, and Clayton County Vice-Chair Felicia Franklin. ACCG is honored to have such dedicated, passionate leaders working on behalf of Georgia's counties.

Fayette County Launches Public Works Club at Fayette LIFE Academy

The Publics Works Club is a newly launched program dedicated to teaching students about overlooked career opportunities in public works. From roads, environmental management, fleet, engineering, and the water system, students learn about each department and how to safely operate the equipment. The Public Works Club is a joint initiative created by Fayette County Government and the Fayette County School System.

Georgia County Commissioners Attend the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Eggs and Issues Event

Telfair County Commissioner Dakkia Bradshaw (left) and Columbus-Muscogee County Commissioner Toyia Tucker (right) attended the Georgia Chamber of Commerce’s 2023 Eggs and Issues annual event at the Georgia World Congress Center. The event kicked off the 2023 legislative session and was heavily attended by business leaders, state legislators, and other elected officials from across the state. 

Fulton County Honors Longterm Bus Driver for His Dedication to Service

Fulton County honored long-term Marta bus driver, Coy Dumas Jr., for 50 years of service to the community. He has carried 2.8 million passengers on his bus in West Atlanta. To show their appreciation, the board of commissioners named January 18, 2023, as Coy Dumas, Jr. Appreciation Day in Fulton County, Georgia.

Douglas County Youth Commission Swearing-In Ceremony

The next generation of county leaders were recently sworn into their official duties by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. The Douglas County Youth Commission program is dedicated to educating high school students about the importance of civic engagement, community service, and the inner workings of county government.

ACCG is now accepting nominations for the 2023 ACCG Awards & Recognition Program and the 2023 Georgia County Excellence Awards. Both award programs provide an opportunity to showcase the talented leaders and innovative programs within your county. Award recipients will be honored at the 2023 ACCG Annual Conference in Savannah/Chatham County this April.
