The Clayton County Office of Communications Earns PRSA Award for Most Effective In-House Campaign

The Clayton County Board of Commissioners Office of Communications earns a top recognition, the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Georgia Phoenix Award, for the Most Effective In-House Marketing Campaign. They were awarded for its communications and marketing plan for the new Spivey Splash Water Park. As a result of the water park campaign, 1,000 season passes were sold and the park garnered a revenue of more than $62,000.

Haralson County Uses ARPA Funds to Purchase New Fire Truck

Haralson County recently added a new engine to the Haralson County Fire Department fleet. The brand new Engine One Pumper Truck is one of many successful purchases made with ARPA funds on behalf of the great citizens of Haralson County. In the picture (left to right) are Haralson County Clerk, Alison Palmer, Haralson County Firefighter, Matthew Williams, Haralson County Fire Chief, Garrett Brubaker, and Haralson County Chairman/CEO, Ronnie Ridley.

Cobb County Public Safety & Police Department Recognized for

Receiving TriArc Award

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners signed a proclamation recognizing the Department of Public Safety and the Cobb County Police Department for being only the 2nd agency in Georgia to be awarded the TriArc Award. The TriArc Award is given to agencies that achieve the highest standards set by CALEA through the police department, police training academy, and the 911 communications center. CALEA is the gold standard and provides benchmarks for agencies to promote the highest delivery level of public safety services.

Douglas County Officials Celebrate Lee Road Widening Groundbreaking 

Douglas County's 2004 dream of working on the Lee Road Widening Project has finally come into fruition. County officials were recently joined by state and local officials to celebrate phase two of the project with a groundbreaking ceremony. Once completed, the new roadway will contain two-lanes northbound and two-lanes southbound, updated and improved curb and gutter drainable, a variable median with a maximum width of 20 feet, a five-foot sidewalk and an 8-foot multi-use trail. The project was funded by a local SPLOST sales tax along with funding support from the Georgia Department of Transportation and Congress.  

Newton County Commissioner Alana Sanders Selected to Join Peer Learning Network with NACo

Newton County Commissioner Alana Sanders was selected to join the NACo County Officials advancing Racial Equity (CORE) in Justice Network. The CORE Justice Network focuses on identifying and eliminating racial and ethnic disparities in the local criminal legal system. As a participant of the CORE Justice Network, Commissioner Sanders will engage with fellow elected officials from across the country who are building similar efforts in their jurisdictions. Commissioner Sanders is committed to continuing her efforts in helping Newton County understand disparities within the local criminal legal system and support programs, practices, funding and policies to advance racial equity.
