Governor Brian Kemp Launches Georgia Safety Promise

This week, Governor Brian Kemp and the Georgia Department of Public Health launched Georgia Safety Promise, a campaign that encourages businesses and the public to agree to simple, but critical, measures that will help to keep Georgians safe from COVID-19, minimize the virus, and keep Georgia open for business.

Counties are encouraged to use the campaign through social media and other community outreach to urge Georgians to wear face coverings, wash their hands, stay six feet apart and sanitize surfaces.

In addition, make sure that your business community is aware of this campaign, which helps to mark their establishment as agreeing to take these steps to keep the public and their employees safe. By signing the promise, businesses can download tools to display on their social media and in their businesses.

An Inside Look at #MaskUpCarroll

Carroll County is proud to support Governor Brian Kemp's Georgia Safety Promise campaign and has pushed the messaging out through Facebook and Twitter. Carroll County commissioners and employees recent sent in pictures proudly showing the public how they are doing their part by wearing customized Carroll County masks. Mask Up Sumter Shares "Why"

Sumter County officials have joined a community-led initiative called Mask Up Sumter to encourage residents to mask up when they are out in public. Free masks are available upon request and distributed at community events thanks to donations from Phoebe Sumter and T-31. The campaign features community leaders explaining why they mask up. Fulton County Explains

#U Make Fulton

Fulton County also launched a community outreach campaign featuring COVID-19 messaging this week. With COVID-19 cases on the rise in the county, they played upon the "U" in the county's name as a call to action. "Our Comm_nity Needs U" and "Need U to Get Tested" were just a few of the creative taglines that were showcased social media used by the county and its elected officials.

Troup County Requires Face Coverings in the Government Center;

Sets Up New Practices as Active Life Centers Prepare to Reopen

In order to help slow the spread of COVID-19, Troup County this week mandated that face coverings are now required for all visitors in the Government Center. Visitors will also be screened by county personnel, including being asked to answer health-related questions as recommended by local health agencies and having a temperature check.

In addition, as the county prepares to reopen its Active Life Center, it is putting safety precautions in place including touchless and fully automated kiosks with thermal imaging and facial recognition systems at the entrances of the building that can read a person's body temperature from up to three feet away, detect whether or not they are wearing a face covering and recognize pre-saved faces to grant access to secure areas.
