White County Purchases Work Boots with ACCG Safety Grant
White County was recently awarded a Employee Safety Grant from the ACCG - Group Self Insurance Workers' Compensation Fund. The county recognized the need for safe, comfortable footwear to prevent workplace injuries. They connected with Boots Etc’s Mobile Safety Store and used the grant funds to purchase new work boots for the Road and Maintenance Departments. Boots Etc’s Mobile Safety Store visited the county and offered a memorable boot shopping experience for the staff.
Liberty County Teens Complete
Youth Summer Engagement Program
Liberty County recently completed its 2022 Summer Youth Employment Program. Nineteen students (ages 14 - 18) were hired by the county to work 20 hours per week with departments ranging from EMS to information technology. They also participated in life skills sessions and toured county facilities. This program has been coordinated annually since 2018 by Assistant County Administrator Joseph Moseley and Mr. Larry Murray, Jr.
Camden County EMA Tests New Equipment Secured through Grant
The Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) recently tested new community warning equipment purchased through Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funding. The new Long Range Acoustical Devices (LRAD) provides clear long range live voice or prerecorded messages over long distances.
Decatur County Fire and Rescue Receives Donation
to Purchase Ballistic Vest
Decatur County Fire and Rescue recently received a donation from Cornerstone Pentecostal Church that was used to purchase a ballistic vest. Without the support of community partners like this church (and other organizations), purchasing such tools to protect firefighters would be much more difficult.
Upson County Restores Historic Bridge
Upson County completed the restoration of the historic Auchumpkee Creek Covered Bridge. County officials oversaw the process from start to finish and utilized 2016 SPLOST funds to make the repairs. Thanks to the restoration, this beautiful landmark will continue to be a place for residents to enjoy for years to come.
Mitchell County Recognizes Long-Term Employees
Mitchell County Chairman Ben Hayward recently recognized retiring employees Keith Palmer (left) for 22 years of service with the Probation Office and Russell Sheppard (right) for 30 years of service with the Sheriff's Office.
