Governor Kemp Joins

Baldwin County to Welcome

New Business at Central State Hospital Campus

Governor Brian Kemp joined county and city officials, state legislators, state agency heads and community leaders for the re-opening of the Bobby Parham Kitchen at the Central State Hospital campus in Baldwin County.

For the last three years, Food Service Partners and the Central State Hospital Redevelopment Authority have worked to renovate this space, funded largely by a USDA loan program.

Food Service Partners will be operating a fruit and vegetable processing facility and are expected to hire approximately 200 workers when they reach full production.

DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson Sworn In for NACo

Congratulations to DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson, who was sworn in virtually on Monday as the First Vice President for the National Association of Counties (NACo). In addition to Commissioner Johnson serving as a NACo officer, Georgia also has many other county officials serving in leadership roles through presidential appointments to committees .

Coweta County Holds Push In Ceremony for New Fire Engine

A Push In Ceremony is a time honored tradition dating back to the 1830s when fire companies used horse drawn equipment that was difficult to back into the fire house requiring firefighters to push the carriage into the fire house. Today, Push In Ceremonies are used to christen new equipment as it is put into service. Watch the Push In Ceremony held this week by Coweta County Fire Rescue.

Park Expansion Nearly Complete

 in Barrow County

Barrow County is celebrating the near completion of a $7.3 million park expansion at Victor Lord Park. Funded through SPLOST, this project is adding 37.3 acres to the park, bringing the total acreage to 103.3 acres. Additions include a multipurpose synthetic turf field, two multipurpose grass sodded fields, a grandstand/scoring building, park amenities/restroom building, an eight tennis court/16 pickleball court center and a dog park. The park hosts year-round sporting events and has over 100,000 visitors annually.

Crisp County First Responders Treated to Lunch

This week, the Crisp County Historical Awards Committee provided local first responders with dinner. Each tray included a label thanking first responders for their service in these unprecedented times.
