Henry County Gets Creative with Outdoor Fitness Activities

Henry County recently hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the grand opening of its new outdoor fitness court. Located at JP Moseley Park, the court is the first of its kind in the county. The court is divided into two sides for fitness. One side features seven stations that can be used for several exercise variations, while the other has an open space for Yoga, Pilates, Zumba and numerous outdoor classes. 

Hall County Government Celebrates Inaugural LEADS Graduating Class


Hall County Government graduated 19 of its staff members from the first-ever LEADS (Leadership Education for Advancing and Developing Staff) program. LEADS is a 12-month program designed to invest in rising Hall County leaders. Led by county leaders, participants attend leadership-focused classes on issues such as trust, growth, change management, and self-assessments. These sessions are followed by tours of county departments and facilities.

Lincoln County Seniors Explore the Town


Recently, more than 30 Lincoln County senior citizens enjoyed being “Tourists in our Town”. An initiative of the Lincoln County Leisure Services, the “Tourists in our Town” series provides seniors with an opportunity to explore and learn more about exciting things to do in the community. Participants visited the Lincoln County Historical Park and enjoyed lunch at a local eatery.

Bulloch County Employees Hosts Second Annual School Supplies Giveaway

Bulloch County employees facilitated the Second Annual School Supplies Giveaway as students prepare to go back to school. The employees collected enough supplies to pack 280 bags for elementary, middle, and high school students. Remaining bags were distributed through three community agencies to ensure other students can get the supplies they need for school.

Walker County Unveils New Inclusive Playground


Walker County has officially opened its new inclusive playground at Walker Rocks Park. The playground features almost two dozen different components, providing children with a high-quality outdoor recreational environment to encourage community health and wellness. PlayCore’s Center for Outreach, Research and Education (CORE) awarded the playground its National Demonstration Site® Designation for thoughtfully aligning with best practices in evidence-based design to promote inclusive play.

GCIP Intern Keeping Carroll County Clean


Villa Rica High School student Mikaine Lewis is interning with the Carroll County Solid Waste Department. Throughout her internship, Lewis has worked on extracting and analyzing trash statistics, identifying recycling trends, and tracking waste across collection sites in the county. She is also working on a survey to collect information about citizen recycling habits. Read more about Lewis’s internship here in a recent issue of ACCG'S CountyLine newsletter.

Floyd County Police Officer Recognized by Floyd County Board of Education


Floyd County Police Officer Chad Matthews spoke at a Floyd County Board of Education meeting to explain Addy’s Law, how it affects bus routes, and the new penalties for violators. Officer Matthews, who is also a part time bus driver for Floyd County Schools, was recognized as their Employee of the Month for his efforts as a bus driver and police officer in keeping students and drivers safe.  

Dougherty County Brings Healthcare on Wheels to the Community


The Dougherty County Health Department is 'bringing care to the community' with the new Mobile Medical Unit. The state-of-the-art mobile medical unit will provide essential healthcare services, including vaccinations, screenings and checkups, and health education to the community.
