Gwinnett County Recognizes July as Park and Recreation Month


The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners recently shared a proclamation recognizing July as Park and Recreation Month. Parks and recreational programs play an essential role in communities across the nation, inviting people from all walks of life to enjoy nature, celebrate milestones, and stay healthy. Gwinnett County ended the proclamation announcement by encouraging their residents to engage in county parks by attending events and following the Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Department on social media.

Randolph and Columbus-Muscogee Counties represented at Georgia Police and Fire Games


Randolph County Vice Chairman Lamar White and Columbus-Muscogee County Councilor and ACCG Board Member Toyia Tucker recently attended the Georgia Police and Fire Games in Columbus, Georgia. The Georgia Police & Fire Games were established to recognize and honor those who work in the profession of public safety, to include law enforcement and/or firefighting. The games consist of weeklong events ranging from toughest cop and toughest firefighter, to challenges in bass fishing, softball, golf, a 5K run, and more.

Fayette County Environmental Management Project Manager Sworn in to the Georgia Underground Facility Protection Act Advisory Committee


Fayette County Environmental Management Project Manager Matt Bergen was recently sworn in by Gov. Kemp as the statewide member of the Georgia Underground Facility Protection Act Advisory Committee. The committee assists the Georgia Public Service Commission when a violator disputes the ruling of the Public Service commissioners. The violation information and associated documentation is submitted to the Georgia Underground Facility Protection Act Advisory Committee for review. The committee then reviews the violation and makes a recommendation to the Commission on the appropriate penalties to impose on the violator.

Lowndes County Fire and Rescue Completes Medical Certification Audit


In June, Lowndes County Fire Rescue successfully completed its annual audit by the Georgia Office of EMS and Trauma for licensure as a State Medical First Responder Agency. The audit consisted of inspections of each fire apparatus and the medical equipment that responders utilize in emergency medical responses.

Cobb County Officials Join Town Center CID at Ribbon Cutting for Aviation Park Upgrades


Cobb County Commissioner JoAnn Birrell led a contingent of county officials to join the Town Center CID at a ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of educational and historical upgrades to Aviation Park. The new upgrades include the Mechanics in Motion Exhibit, Wheels to Wings Exhibit, What Happens Up There: From Taxing to Landing Exhibit and the Lessons in Liftoff Exhibit.

Camden County Honors Local Residents for Graduation from Citizens Academy


The Camden County Board of Commissioners recently congratulated 16 residents from the 2023 Citizens' Academy Class. The Citizens’ Academy is an 11-session interactive program designed to familiarize the general public with the roles, services, and operations that comprise their Camden County Government.
