Rockdale County Reopens Senior Center in Time to Celebrate July 4th
The Fourth of July marks a big celebration for many counties across the state. Rockdale County's seniors had something else to celebrate - the reopening of Rockdale County's Olivia Haydel Senior Center. Seniors were invited back to gather at the center for the first time since the pandemic. Participants enjoyed a Fourth of July themed party complete with music, dancing, snacks and fellowship with friends they had not seen in a long time.
County Officials Head to Great Wolf Lodge for LLA Leadership Institute
Twenty-nine attendees representing 19 counties from across the state recently participated in the two-day ACCG Lifelong Learning Academy (LLA) Leadership Institute at Great Wolf Lodge in Troup County. The Leadership Institute is designed to enhance communication and interpersonal skills, learn about personal styles, and identify ways to build stronger board and community relationships.
Oconee County Officials Break Ground for Administration Building
Oconee County officials held a ceremonial groundbreaking for a new 44,000-square-foot administrative building. The building is slated to be completed by mid-2023 and will house non-judicial government functions currently located in the Oconee County Courthouse and Oconee County Annex.
Houston County Officials Break Ground on Health Department Addition
Houston County officials recently broke ground on an 11,610-square foot addition to the Houston County Health Department. The addition will include a WIC suite, a dental suite, an isolation exam suite and a drive thru for clinical services. The county ialso is renovating 6,653-square feet of space at this facility.

Motor Grader Training at
South Georgia Technical College
Individuals from several counties recently completed a motor grader operator training course at South Georgia Technical College (SGTC), including those pictured here from Turner County. SGTC partnered with Crisp County to offer the training, which focuses on equipment operations, safety and maintenance.
Newton County Participates in NACo Event to Learn about Justice Reform
The National Association of Counties (NACo) recently invited county officials from across the country to Pima County (Tuscan, Arizona) to participate in sessions and learn about justice reform including mental health. Newton County Commissioner Alana Sanders and Court Coordinator Robert Fox were among the officials who participated.
Camden County Residents Graduate from Citizens' Academy
Eleven residents recently graduated from the Camden County Citizen's Academy. The CItizens' Academy is a 10-week interactive program designed to familarize the public with the roles, services, and operations that comprise county government.
