Rep. Debbie Buckner Awarded with 2023 Legislative Service Award


ACCG Deputy Director of Governmental Affairs Todd Edwards presented the first of the 2023 Legislative Service Awards to Rep. Debbie Buckner during the recent Talbot County Commission meeting. Buckner was honored for her sponsorship of House Bill 31 which dedicates the state's hazardous waste management fee and the hazardous substance reporting fee to the Hazardous Waste Trust Fund (HWTF). 

Columbia County Unveils New Public Tennis and Pickleball Club


Columbia County recently unveiled the Columbia County Racquet Center in the former Petersburg Racquet Club. The new public facility has been under construction since May 1, 2023. County staff have been working to repair, upgrade and enhance overall functionality for the complex, and have now opened the upgraded tennis courts for public access.

Chattooga County Registered Nurse Honored for 50 Years of Service


Chattooga County Sole Commissioner Blake Elsberry recently recognized Pat Hartline for her 50 years of service as a registered nurse in Chattooga County. Commissioner Elsberry stated, "Her commitment to her profession, her patients, and her community is astounding and I congratulate her on all her success."

Glynn County Hosts Public Safety Career Day


Golden Isles Career Day was a multi-agency event held at Ballard Park in Brunswick, Georgia. Public Safety agencies from Glynn County and surrounding counties participated in this event to help promote and recruit for careers in law enforcement, fire, EMS, and 911 dispatch with onsite applications and interviews conducted.  

Corteva Agriscience Donates Equipment to Lowndes County Fire Rescue


On June 1, Corteva Agriscience donated two quick response hazardous materials decontamination showers to Lowndes County Fire Rescue. Through the joint efforts of Captain Bennie Kennedy of Lowndes County Fire Rescue, and Jamieo Carter with Corteva’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S), Corteva provided the showers, which cost several thousand dollars each, at no cost to Lowndes County.
