Chattooga County Hosts First Local Non-Profit Forum

Chattooga County Sole Commissioner Blake Elsberry initiated the first ever Non- Profit Forum meeting in his county last month. The Forum allowed the non-profits to share information, ideas, and exchange resources. According to Commissioner Elsberry, "Chattooga County has so many great non-profit organizations and I am hoping that these meetings will become a valuable asset for them." The next meeting will take place on August 12 in Chattooga County.

Fulton County Celebrates

Fulton County Commissioners celebrated local class of 2021 salutatorians, valedictorians, STAR students, and member of its Youth Commission during a special ceremony. Best wishes to the Class of 2021 on their future endeavors!

Clayton County Commissioner Felecia Franklin Re-Elected Vice-Chair to Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority

Clayton County Commissioner Felecia Franklin was unanimously re-elected as vice-chair of the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority (ATL). “I am pleased to continue to serve as the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority’s Vice Chair and look forward to the continued leadership contributions of the Board as we work towards a more seamless and connected transit network,” said Felicia Franklin, ATL Board Vice-Chair.

Henry County Students Make History By Breaking Ground on $1.2 Million Project

Henry County Commissioner Vivian Thomas (center) and GAME On Junior Commissioners collaborated to restore the conditions at Mickie D. Cochran Park. GAME On Junior Commissioners, a group of Henry County high school students, designed the renovations with assistance from Commissioner Thomas, Henry County government leadership, planning experts, and the local community. Thomas initially committed $1.2 million of SPLOST V funds to support the renovations. The funds come from the District IV SPLOST V allocation for parks.

Coweta County Congratulates Warden Bill McKenzie for 32 Years of Service

Coweta County Administrator Michael Fouts (left) congratulates Bill McKenzie for 32 years of service. Retiring at the end of June, McKenzie serves as Warden of the Coweta County Prison where he manages the Correctional Institute, Work Release Program, and Animal Services. Congratulations to Mr. McKenzie on his retirement!

Governor Kemp Visits Bryan County, Announces Industrial Mega Site

Governor Kemp visited Bryan County to tour the recently announced industrial mega-site. The new site has potential to bring economic prosperity to the Savannah Harbor region while providing thousands of high-quality jobs for residents in Bryan, Bulloch, Chatham, and Effingham counties.

About Mary: Mary graduated from the University of Florida in 1986 and recently moved to the mountains in Jasper to get a flat yard. She's no longer allowed to go to the animal shelter alone because she always comes home with another dog. She enjoys anything home improvement and crafty. Mary has been married to her husband, Jim, for 32 years. They have 3 dogs and two kids, Alex (22), who was adopted from Bulgaria and Maya (18), who was adopted from China.
