Houston County Shares Challenges in Processing Absentee Ballots

Houston County Chairman Tommy Stalnaker, Representative Shaw Blackmon, ACCG Deputy Legislative Director Todd Edwards and ACCG County Consulting Manager Bill Twomey (not pictured) met with Houston County Elections Superintendent Debra Presswood and other staff to learn more about the challenges of processing absentee ballots. The General Assembly returns to action on Monday and improving the processes before the November election is expected to be a hot topic.

Floyd County Holds Bid Meeting Outside to Allow for Social Distancing

Counties continue to adapt to social distancing requirements to get the job done. Vendors gathered in front of the Floyd County administration building for an open bid for the Russell Regional Airport / Towers Field runway expansion. Leading the process is Purchasing Director Bill Gilliland, Assistant Director Randy Self and Special Projects Manager Bruce Ivey.

DeKalb County Launches Youth Services Virtual Village

The DeKalb County Human Services Department has launched the Youth Services Virtual Village, an online platform to bring resources, programs and activities to children and youth. More than 30 classes and programs that are normally held in person have been converted to this online platform connecting instructors with youth participants in a safe way. Topics include dance, theater, arts and crafts, technology, cooking and more. To learn more about the Virtual Village, click here.
