ACCG Recognizes Election Officials

with Policy Appreciation Awards

ACCG Deputy Legislative Director Todd Edwards recently recognized Augusta-Richmond County Election Superintendent Lynn Bailey with a 2021 ACCG Policy Appreciation Award. This is the first year the Association has presented the Policy Appreciation Awards, which this year will honor county election officials for their invaluable assistance to ACCG in understanding and acting upon the more than 90 election bills introduced during the 2021 legislative session. Bailey is one of three county election officials to receive this award.

Special Bond Formed

between ACCG Board Members

ACCG Board of Managers members Carvel Lewis (Georgetown-Quitman County Chairman) and Michelle Morgan (Carroll County Chairman) got to know one another better when they traveled to Washington, D.C. at the invitation of President Donald Trump last year. Following the loss of Chairman Lewis' mother, Chairman Morgan asked a neighbor to knit a blanket for him. She presented the blanket to him at a recent ACCG Lifelong Learning Academy event that they both attended.

Lamar County Recognizes Boy Scouts

The Lamar County Board of Commissioners recognized and honored the Boy Scouts for their 75th year in Lamar County at a recent meeting.

$65 Million Investment in Wayne County to Result in New Jobs

Wayne County commissioners joined representatives with Engineered Absorbent Materials this week for a groundbreaking for a $65 million expansion in the Wayne County Industrial Park. This facility will create 75 new jobs in the county.

Paulding County Employee

Named EMS Educator of the Year

Paulding County Fire and Rescue employee Lisa Lewis recently was named Georgia's Emergency Medical Service Educator of the Year. Lewis is credited with launching the department's in-house EMS EMT program, working to certify fire personnel as Advanced EMTs and working towards earning the department's license for the delivery of Advance Life Support (ALS) services.

Recent County Appointments:

The Coweta County Board of Commissioners has named Robby Flanagan as Fire Chief. Flanagan started with Coweta County Fire Rescue in 1996 and worked his way up through the the ranks. He is dedicated to growing the department's emergency response and all hazard capabilities.

Chris Minor has been named as Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation Director. Minor grew up playing football in Gwinnett County Parks and is the first African-American to serve in this position. He has worked in the Parks and Recreation Division since 2013.

About Clint: Clint enjoys the outdoors and loves to hike, mountain bike and kayak. He also likes to travel and hopes to one day visit every U.S. national park. This past year, he visited Dry Tortugas, Gateway, Arch, Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Badlands. He also enjoys watching documentaries, reading about current events and investing. Clint and his wife, Karen, have four children: Lily is going into 5th grade, Kristen is going into 11th grade and twins, Mason and Andrew, are both going into their junior year at the University of Georgia.
