ACCG Leaders Represent Counties at GMA’s Annual Convention

ACCG President and Toombs County Chairman David Sikes attended the Georgia Municipal Association’s Annual Convention this past weekend. He is pictured with keynote speaker and New York Times bestseller Ben Nemtin. ACCG Executive Director Dave Wills was also in attendance.

Lowndes County Receives National Budget Award for 18th Consecutive Year 


For the 18th consecutive year, the Lowndes County Board of Commissioners has been honored with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for their budgetary excellence. This accolade underscores the dedication of both the governing body and staff for upholding the highest standards in governmental budgeting.

Gwinnett County Interns Explore County Departments


Empower Gwinnett interns are learning about the intricacies of county government while acquiring hands-on skills this summer. Recently, the interns embarked on tours of Gwinnett County's Fire Academy, Sheriff's Office, Department of Transportation Operations and Maintenance Facility, and Police Training Center, enriching their learning experience.

Cherokee County Seniors Receive Free Health Services

Cherokee County Senior Services and CareSource joined forces to host the Wellness-on-Wheels Health Fair for seniors in the community. Around 100 seniors received non-urgent medical care, vision, or behavioral health care at no cost thanks to a grant partnership between the two entities. The event also enabled the senior services center to connect with homebound residents who often encounter difficulties in accessing such vital healthcare services. ACCG Connects with Rural Counties at the Rural Development Institute


ACCG Director of County Consulting Services Bill Twomey recently participated in the Rural Development Institute (RDI) at Valdosta State University. He served as a mentor for Jenkins County leaders to help them identify the county's unique opportunities and challenges. RDI is an annual event aimed to equip rural communities with strategies and resources to address challenges and plan for prosperity.
