County Memorial Day Ceremonies Honor Fallen Heroes
Counties across Georgia hosted Memorial Day ceremonies to honor men and women who have paid the ulimate sacrifice and lost their lives while serving in the United States military. Henry County held their ceremony in person once again this year, after two years of hosting virtual ceremonies due to COVID-19. LTC Fred Edwards served as the keynote speaker and Senator Raphael Warnock attended the service and give the invocation.
Congratulations to Macon-Bibb County 2022 GCAPS Graduates!
Eighteen students recently graduated from the 2022 Macon-Bibb County Georgia Civic Awareness Program for Students (GCAPS). During the year, students were given overviews of several departments including the Mayor's office, the Commission, the Clerk of Commission, the Board of Elections, Human Resources, Recreation, Parks and Beautification, Finance, Engineering and more. The program helps students learn about the roles and functions of government and gives them hands-on opportunities to learn about their community.
Lifelong Learning Academy
Summer Session Heads
to Callaway Resort & Gardens
More than 100 county officials took part in the 2022 Summer Session of the Lifelong Learning Academy held at Callaway Resort & Gardens this week. Classes offered included the two-day core Property Appraisal & Taxation class as well as eight specialty track classes.
Safety Village Fun Days in Cobb County
Cobb County is offering Family Fun Days at the Safety Village throughout the summer to give visitors a chance to touch and sit in emergency vehicles, meet their bomb-sniffing dog, visit the mobile library and more! Two more days are scheduled for this summer - June 28th and July 12 - from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. The cost is $5 per person ($20 family maximum).
Clayton County Opens New Water Park
Just in time for Memorial Day weekend, Clayton County cut the ribbon and opened the new Spivey Splash water park at the Clayton County International Park. The water park will be open through September 5 and includes waterslides, a lazy river, a splash pad and more. Tickets are $15 for those over 48" and $13 for those under 48". Season passes are available for both county and non-county residents. If you are looking for a place to cool off this summer, check it out!
