Columbia County Uses Employee Safety Grant to Hold Fire Extinguisher Training

Columbia County maximized its 2023 Employee Safety Grant from the ACCG Workers’ Compensation Program by organizing a fire extinguisher training session for its employees. Participants received hands-on experience with fire extinguishers and learned proper techniques for extinguishing live fires. The grant also funded defensive driver training, procurement of first aid kits, and response kits for the Stop the Bleed program.

Fulton County Youth Commissioner Testifies in

Support of New Social Media Bill


Fulton County Youth Commissioner Nathaniel Dsilva took a stand at the House Education Subcommittee meeting, testifying in support of the "Protecting Georgia's Children on Social Media Act of 2024" (SB 351). The proposed legislation is a comprehensive measure designed to safeguard Georgia's youth from the often-unseen dangers lurking within social media platforms.

Cherokee County Seniors Celebrate

Second Annual Senior Prom


The Cherokee County Seniors Services Department, in partnership with local high school Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Clubs, hosted a Senior Prom for Cherokee County seniors. More than 40 seniors enjoyed live jazz music, food, trivia and dancing. They also nominated a Senior Prom king and queen.

Calhoun County Implements New Emergency Dispatching System


Calhoun County recently transitioned to Ryzyliant's CAD Classic and Mapped ALI solution dispatch system, leading to faster response times for first responders. Prior to the system, the County manually dispatched calls for ten agencies.

Governmental Affairs Team


ACCG legal intern Cindy Phan has been assisting the Governmental Affairs team during the last few weeks of the 2024 legislative session. Phan is one of three interns assisting ACCG with bill analysis, tracking, and other special projects.

ACCG Raises Awareness of Career Opportunities in County Government


ACCG Research Analyst Liz Greene attended the UGA Summer Job and Internship Fair to promote the Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP). This year, the ACCG Civic Affairs Foundation awarded 30 counties GCIP grants to hire students for paid county government internships.

Bulloch County Receives ACCG-GSIWCF Cash Dividend Check


Bulloch County was one of many counties that benefited from being a member of the ACCG Insurance Programs. This week, the County was presented a cash dividend check that resulted from a surplus of funds in the ACCG – Group Self-Insurance Workers’ Compensation Fund (ACCG - GSIWCF)For more information on the cash dividend and the ACCG - GSIWCF, click here.
