Haralson County Unveils New Batting Cage


Haralson County is kicking off the 2023 baseball season with a brand new four-bay batting cage at the Haralson County Sports Complex. Recreation Director Mike Daniel is pleased with the addition to the facility. The baseball and softball players will be able to use the batting cages to improve their skills. The Haralson County Sports Complex is the largest in Haralson County and a great venue for West Georgia.

Fayette County Animal Shelter Breaks Ground for Larger Facility


Fayette County officials recently broke ground on a new animal shelter facility. The 6,000-square feet facility will be nestled on a four-acre site off Highway 74 South in Peachtree City. The shelter is set to open late 2023 to early 2024. The new location will double the capacity of the current shelter and will house 52 dogs. 

Ten Clayton County Youth Commissioners Attended the Georgia United Nations Assembly


Georgia United Nations Assembly (GUNA) is a program of the Georgia Center for Civic Engagement. It is a model UN program where students from across the state take on the role as nation ambassadors. Participants research a country, investigate international issues, debate, deliberate, consult, and then develop solutions to a world problem respective of their nation selection.

Paulding County Officials Visit Capitol

Paulding County officials visited the Capitol this week to meet with Sen. Anavitarte to discuss how legislation in the Senate Finance Committee would impact Paulding County. Afterwards, they attended the Senate Finance Committee meeting in case they were called upon to speak.

Whitfield County Announces Launch of Prepared Live


The Whitfield County 911 Center is excited to announce the launch of Prepared Live in the Dispatch Center. Developed by Prepared, the software enables the 911 Dispatch Center to livestream, receive multimedia, and locations from mobile callers in real-time. 

Calhoun County Declares March Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month


At the March 13, 2023, regular commission meeting, Chairman Conner Collins signed a proclamation declaring March 2023 Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. Collins urged all citizens to take time to get to know someone with a disability and educate and inspire others to do the same.
