Celebrating Clayton County Day at the Capitol

Clayton County Day at the Capitol was an eventful occasion featuring Chairwoman Dr. Alieka Anderson-Henry, Clayton County Delegation Rep. Yasmin Neal, and Rep. Eric Bell (District 75). They engaged with county officials, local leaders, and residents to provide insights on current legislation and to discuss issues impacting the community.

Rockdale County Celebrates Women's History Month


Rockdale County Chair JaNice Van Ness hosted Tea and Triumph, celebrating Women's History Month, where panelists and speakers engaged in deep, meaningful dialogue with attendees. The event inspired connection and empowerment while honoring the voices that continue to shape women's history.

Lowndes County 911 Receives Prestigious GECC Award


Lowndes County 911 was recently awarded the Communications/911 Center of the Year Award at the annual Georgia Emergency Communications Conference (GECC) held in Columbus-Muscogee County. This distinguished award is presented to a Communications/911 Center, which demonstrates exceptional professionalism, leadership, innovation, and service to the community it serves, as well as to its region and state.

Long-time Community Advocate Offers Ceremonial First Pitch


Chattahoochee County Little League Baseball had an unforgettable opening day, highlighted by Earnest "Coach Joe" Robinson's ceremonial first pitch. Coach Joe, a long-time volunteer and mentor, has dedicated over four decades to the community, profoundly impacting youth sports in Cusseta-Chattahoochee County.

ACCG Civic Affairs Foundation Participates in College Internship Fair

ACCG's Michele NeSmith and Liz Greene participated in the Kennesaw State University Summer Internship Fair to promote the Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP) to business, data, humanities, social sciences, and STEM college students. 

GCIP Intern Gets Hands-on Experience with Henry County



Jaeden Williams, a junior majoring in urban studies at Tennessee State University, interned with the Henry County Planning and Zoning Department, assisting with projects related to changes in the Unified Land Development Code (ULDC). He conducted research, drafted language for code amendments, and collaborated with county planners to identify code inconsistencies and make suggestions.

Lumpkin County Recreation Center Recognized for Community Impact


Lumpkin County's Pinetree Recreation Center was honored with a 2025 Community Program Award from the Georgia City-County Management Association (GCCMA). In collaboration with the county school system, Pinetree Recreation Center has expanded multi-use court spaces, developed water safety programs, and created new job opportunities, addressing critical gaps in Lumpkin County’s recreation amenities and employment needs.


Local Government Communication Professionals Connect at Joint ACCG/GMA Event

The quarterly Government Communicators Meeting, a joint initiative between ACCG and the Georgia Municipal Association, was recently held in the city of Decatur (DeKalb County). Each quarter, government communicators from cities and counties across the state gather to discuss trending industry topics and to network with others in their field. This quarters meeting focused on tips and strategies for crafting successful award applications.
