Henry County Cuts Ribbon on Disc Golf Course Expansion


Henry County unveiled the new expansion to an existing disc golf course at J.P. Moseley Park this week. The expansion includes a new entrance to the course and adds nine new holes to the existing 27-hole course.

Lamar County Holds Groundbreaking for New Animal Shelter


Lamar County recently held a groundbreaking for their new state of the art animal shelter. The shelter will be run by the Sheriff’s Office. Donor funds for the project have topped $188,000. The County has earmarked $250,000 in SPLOST funds for the project.

Councilor Toyia Tucker Attends 28th Annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser


Columbus-Muscogee County Councilor Toyia Tucker attended the 28th Annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser, an annual fundraiser that benefits the Kids Café Program at Feeding the Valley Food Bank. Each year, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department hosts The Empty Bowl Luncheon, which is its annual charity fundraiser. This program provides more than 2,000 hot, nutritional meals and snacks every weekday after school and throughout the summer to low-income children.

ACCG Raises Awareness on Career Opportunities in County Government


ACCG's Research Analyst, Elizabeth Green represented the ACCG Civic Affairs Foundation at the recent University of Georgia job fair. Elizabeth informed attendees about internship opportunities available through the Georgia County Internship Program (GCIP) and the importance of county government.

Gordon County Commissioners Declare Agricultural Week


During a Gordon County Board of Commissioners meeting, a proclamation was read recognizing March 19-25 as Agriculture Week. Gordon County's Agricultural Week is set to recognize Georgia’s leadership role in agriculture and the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship that drives the agriculture industry, rural communities, and farm families around the state.
