A Super Celebration in Dodge County
The Dodge County Board of Commissioners recognized Leonard Floyd, a Dodge County native and a 2022 Los Angelos Rams SuperBowl Champion, by proclaming February 22, 2022 as Leonard Floyd Day. The local community celebrated the day with a parade, live music and a food truck event.
ACCG Policy Team at Work at the State Capitol
The ACCG Policy team had a busy week at the State Capitol as more and more legislation impacting counties is introduced and heard in committees. ACCG Legislative Associate Gabe Carter (left) testified against HB 830 (increase in Sheriff's pay) in the House Public Safety and Homeland Security Committee. Columbia County Chairman Doug Duncan and ACCG Deputy Legislative Director Todd Edwards (center) testified against SB 494 (no regulations on rental subdivisions) in the Senate SLGO Committee. ACCG e Associate Legislative Director Kathleen Bowen (right) testified against HB 496 (truck weight increase) in the House Transportation Committee. Floyd County Launches Citizenship Award Program
Two model students are winners of the first citizenship awards presented by the Floyd County Police Department. Brewer Blalock and Briggs Poyner were presented with the awards in honor of their kindness and acts of compassion following a wreck they witnessed while driving to a basketball game. The high school seniors witnesess a car run off the road and flip several times and ran to aid the driver and passenger, called 911 and stayed with the victims until the ambulance arrived.
Dougherty County Celebrates New Addition to a Local Library
Dougherty County recently cut the ribbon on a new event center at the Northwest Library. The new expansion includes about 5,000 square feet of meeting space available for rent in the community.
Camden County Receives
Grant for Interns
The Camden County Board of Commissioners recently received a grant from the ACCG Civic Affairs Foundation as a part of the Georgia County Internship Program. The gtrant will assist the county in funding two interns this summer - one to work in the county clerk's and human resources offices and the other in public works.
New Roundabout Open
in Baldwin County
Baldwin County recently celebrated the completion of the county's first roundabout with a ribbon cutting. The roundabout took seven weeks to complete and cost approximately $170,000 plus labor from the county.
