ACCG Board of Managers Installed

Congratulations to Bartow County Sole Commissioner Steve Taylor who officially took the helm as ACCG President during a virtual installation ceremony held on April 30, 2021. Watch for his presidential remarks from a local installation ceremony previously recorded coming to your email next week.

ACCG also thanks outgoing ACCG President and Jefferson County Commissioner Johnny Davis for his outstanding leadership and service during this highly unusual year!

Hancock County Prepares for IRT Medical Team to Return in June

Hancock County Chairman Sistie Hudson and other county officials hosted the IRT Medical Team this week for a final walk-through at Hancock County High School in preparation of clinic days for the community. Approximately 25 military medical professionals from across the United States will return for several days in June to provide medical, dental and optical services. Veterinary services also will be offered this year! When this clinic was provided two years ago, more than 700 people received care.

DeKalb County Purchases Girl Scout Cookies for Food Box Distribution

DeKalb County is purchasing approximately 20,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies from area troops for its upcoming food distribution and for the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Due to the pandemic, approximately 720,000 boxes of cookies sit unsold in metro-Atlanta warehouses. The cookies will be distributed during the county's May 1 food distribution. Since May 2020, DeKalb County has provided fruit, vegetables and protein to more than 31,000 DeKalb County families.

ACCG Announces County Reconnect Conference in November

ACCG knows that you have missed face-to-face interaction with your peers from across the state and the team at ACCG. We’ve missed you too! This November, prepare to get together again in Savannah from November 12-15 for the County Reconnect Conference. This event will infuse elements of the Annual Conference and the Legislative Leadership Conference – two of our largest events. For a few exciting days, we're saying goodbye to virtual meetings and hello in person. The County Reconnect Conference will combine the flare of the Annual Conference while engaging in official business as it relates to the Association’s policy development process. You’ll have the opportunity to take classes in the Lifelong Learning Academy, hear from a dynamic keynote speaker, vote on the 2022 Policy Agenda, and attend continuing education sessions on timely topics. Registration will open in August!

Name: Debra Nesbit

About Debra: Debra is a people person and loves getting to know others - she is not shy by a long shot! She strives to keep things simple and to the point, not to waste others' time. Debra just planted a pecan orchard on her family's farm in South Carolina (270 trees - whew!). Her other hobbies include lake life, boating and visiting the lake with friends. Debra has a large extended family, a daughter who is a physician, and a married son who has blessed her with two wonderful grandsons, ages 5 3/4 (his description) and 9 months. Most of her free time is spent with her family.
