ACCG Past President Johnny Davis Receives Inaugural Cornerstone Award
ACCG Past President and Jefferson County Commissioner Johnny Davis was presented with the inaugural ACCG Cornerstone Award during the recent annual confererence. This award is selected by the ACCG staff to recognize an individual having demonstrated exemplary service on behalf of and in service to ACCG and Georgia's counties. Commissioner Davis was thanked for his outstanding and selfless leadership in guiding ACCG and the Board of Managers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Commissioner Johnson Attends
White House Announcement on Affordable Internet
DeKalb County Commissioner Larry Johnson, who also serves as NACo President and an ACCG Board member, attended an announcement for Affordable High-Speed Internet at the White House this week. The Affordable Connectivity Program was created as part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. Twenty internet service providers have agreed to either lower costs or increase speeds to provide access to eligible households. To learn more, click here.
Douglas County Recognizes Graduates of Parent Accountability Court
Six individuals recently graduated from the Douglas County Parent Accountability Court before the Honorable Michelle Harrison. This accountability court is a branch of the Department of Human Services through the Division of Child Support Services and is a voluntary program that provides an opportunity for indiviudals facing possible incarcaration for failure to pay their court-ordered child support obligations.
Glynn County Holds Employee Appreciation Picnic
Glynn County held an Employee Appreciation Picnic this week for the almost 1,000 county employees. The county fire and police department command staffs served as grill masters. The event also served as an opportunity to welcome the county's new manager, William Fallon.
