Walton County Implements Courthouse Access Strategies

The Walton County courthouse reopened to the public this week. The county has implemented temperature scans and provides colored placards to the public based on the office they need to visit to control access to the building.

Fleet Management Keeps Vehicles Rolling in Dougherty County

Dougherty County celebrated the employees who keep their fleet running as part of National Public Works Week. The American Public Works Association spearheads this annual recognition, themed this year as, "The Rhythm of Public Works. Dougherty County fleet management hasn't missed a beat with #maskupdougherty.

Carroll County Correctional Institution Makes Masks for County Offices

Carroll County Chairman Michelle Morgan visited the Carroll County Correctional Institution to drop off some fabric and provided some sewing tips to the inmates who are producing masks for county offices needing protection for visitors who may not have access to one. Carroll County appreciates the hardworking men and women working at the Carroll County Correctional Institution for their willingness to teach and mentor these inmates who are working towards a brighter and better future upon their release.

Gwinnett County Delivers Meals to Seniors during COVID-19

County employees throughout Georgia continued to provide important services during the pandemic. In March and April, Gwinnett County Senior Services staff prepared and delivered more than 21,330 meals for seniors to their homes. These deliveries provided healthy meals to thousands of seniors who continue to be required to shelter-in-place under Governor Brian Kemp's Executive Order through June 12, 2020.

DeKalb County Uses CARES Act Funds to Fight Food Insecurity

DeKalb County is working to mitigate food insecurity through a partnership with the Georgia Department of Agriculture and Georgia farmers. The county distributed 1,200 boxes of fresh produce and 1,200 bags of chicken to residents with limited access to healthy food. The county has appropriated $3 million of its direct share of the federal CARES Act funding to help mitigate food insecurity, which is estimated to have increased by 40% since the onset of COVID-19.
