Georgia Counties Continue Census Outreach
Fire Stations in Fulton County Compete in Census Video Challenge
Keeping the 2020 Census at the forefront and urging residents to complete their Census forms remains a priority, even in the midst of COVID-19. Fulton County recently challenged fire station teams in all 15 municipalities to submit a 60-second video message to compete for the title of “Best 2020 Census PSA.” The purpose of the PSA was to remind the public that Census data is used to help determine federal funding for public safety and emergency management. Roswell Fire Department took the top honors. Watch all of the PSAs here.
Walker County Uses State Census Tools for Outreach, Hosts Mobile Food Pantry & Census Event
Walker County incorporated marketing tools provided by the State of Georgia to promote the 2020 Census locally. This week, the county also hosted a
Mobile Food Pantry and Census Event at a local elementary school and reminded people who came to pick up boxes of food to complete their Census forms. The state's downloadable Census marketing tools are available

Catoosa County Library Reopens
The Catoosa County Library has reopened for in-person visits. Director Richard Groves, Assistant Director Sara Holmes and the entire staff are wearing PPE and have created space for appropriate social distancing. Since closing March 16, the Catoosa County Library continued to serve the community with curbside services. Book returns are quarantined for three days and any fines/fees are being waived. Plans are being made to restart programs and events this summer.
Chatham County Takes Unique Approach to Social Distancing
Social distancing is a term that people have heard time and again since the onset of COVID-19. Chatham County recently used social media to help educate their residents how to estimate keeping a six-foot distance from one another - in a uniquely southern way.
Hall County Corrections Inmates Making Gowns for Northeast Georgia Medical Center
Inmate work crews at the Hall County Correctional Institute have begun making single-use gowns that will be distributed to health care workers at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. The 20-man crew can make approximately 700 gowns per day - a critical need when one considers the hospital goes through approximately 4,500 of them per day, on average. The gowns are made using one-mil plastic that is cut with a template, then heat sealed once the proper shape is formed.
