Counties Honor Veterans Through NACo's Operation Greenlight

Counties across Georgia have joined in honoring local veterans through the National Association of Counties' (NACo) Operation Greenlight. The Operation Green Light Initiative works to show support for veterans by lighting buildings green from November 6-12. By shining a green light, county governments let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported.

Rockdale County Celebrates Rockin' Women of Rockdale County


Rockdale County Chairman Oz Nesbitt, Sr., proudly hosted the 2023 Rockin’ Women of Rockdale County event which honored women whose outstanding achievements have left an indelible mark on the community. This year’s 2023 Rockin’ Women of Rockdale Awards shattered records with an impressive array of nominations, underlining the growing appreciation for the incredible accomplishments of women in Rockdale County.

Haralson County Hosts Area Commissioners Fall Luncheon


The Haralson County Board of Commissioners hosted an Area Commissioners Fall Luncheon at Bremen Farms in Bremen, Georgia. During the luncheon, attendees learned about the plans for the farm and their agritourism endeavors. Afterward, each county (Carroll, Douglas, Floyd, Haralson, Paulding, and Polk) discussed progress in their respective communities.  

Cherokee County Opens New Local Food Pantry


Cherokee County, through the Carl Vinson Institute of Government's (CVIOG) Management Development Program (MDP), has created a new local food pantry as part of their community service project. The MDP is a 20-day program that extends over a seven- to eight-month period and offers management and leadership development tailored for local government officials.

Glynn County Sheriff's Office Hosts 4th Annual Battle of the Badges


Glynn County recently hosted their 4th Annual Battle of the Badges baseball tournament. Agencies across the county participated in the event including the Glynn County Sheriff's Office, Glynn County Police Department, Glynn County Fire Rescue, and the Brunswick Fire Department.
