Succumbs to COVID-19

Monroe County Emergency Services Firefighter Harold Boone passed away on November 2 after a nearly six-week battle with COVID-19. Boone's casket was transported via Honor Guard to its final burial location in Macon-Bibb County. The loss of this county public safety worker is a reminder for everyone to remain vigilant as COVID-19 cases are on the rise again in Georgia.

Fulton County Prepares to Conduct Election Risk Limiting Audit

Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts took the Oath of Deputy Register on Friday as the county prepared to start its election risk limiting audit on Saturday. Over 300 workers will be engaged in the audit process to review the more than 528,000 votes cast in Fulton County. Counties across the state must complete the audit by midnight on November 18.

Explore Georgia Launches Great Escapes Giveaway for Safecations

Explore Georgia, the tourism division of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, has launched the "Georgia's Great Escapes Giveaway." People can enter to win trips to Atlanta, Blue Ridge, Milledgeville, Savannah and Thomasville to take anytime before November 2021. Each destination includes a Safecation Guide. Rockdale County Drive-In Movie

Sees Roaring Success

Counties continue to look for innovative ways to provide safe events for their community. Rockdale County is offering a "Drive-In Movie at the Horse Park" to watch The Lion King on November 21. Registration for the event was hugely popular and quickly reached its 200 car capacity. Guests must stay in their car for the duration of the movie and radio transmitters will be distributed to provide for the movie audio.
