Putnam County Holds a Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony for New Fire & EMS Station and Coroner's Office

Putnam County Board of Commissioners recently held a Grand Opening and Dedication Ceremony for the new Fire & EMS Station 10 and the Coroner’s Office Complex. The Coroner’s Office was dedicated to former longtime Putnam County Coroner Gary McElhenney. The state-of-the-art art facility will serve the community for years to come.

Fayette County to Observe Operation Green Light


Fayette County proclaimed November 1-13, 2023, as a time to salute and honor the service and sacrifice of men and women who are transitioning from active military service. As part of the proclamation, Fayette County will observe Operation Green Light, National Association of Counties' (NACo) initiative that honors veterans for their military service by illuminating buildings with green lights.

Douglas County Commissioner Called to Serve Amid Isreal-Hamas War


Douglas County Commissioner Ricky Dobbs, Jr., has been called to serve during the ongoing Israel-Hamas War. While stationed in Italy with the U.S. Navy, Dobbs will continue to serve Douglas County as commissioner and attend meetings virtually. ACCG thanks Dobbs for his service to our country.

Dougherty County Commissioners and Flint River Habitat for Humanity Welcomed Future Homeowners to the Moss Island Court Neighborhood 

With the increasing housing challenges, the Albany-Dougherty County Land Bank worked with the Flint River Habitat for Humanity to obtain property for families in the Moss Island Court area to build 60 affordable homes.


Dougherty County Commissioner Gloria Gaines, along with ACCG 2nd Vice President and Dougherty County Commissioner Clinton Johnson, were present to celebrate the event with the future homeowners. 

Whitfield County Participates in 7th Annual Boot Drive for Kids


The Whitfield County Fire Department (WCFD) joined forces with the Dalton Shriners for the 7th Annual Boot Drive for Kids, an initiative that exemplifies the power of community collaboration and compassion. This year, $27,000 was raised for the “Santa-In-Uniform” program and a children’s burn unit in Ohio.

Fulton County Holds Opening for New Morehouse Healthcare Clinic


Fulton County has successfully opened a new clinic for the public to address healthcare gaps following the closure of the Atlanta Medical Center last year. In partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine, the new Morehouse Healthcare clinic features eight exam rooms and holds space for nine physicians with plans to expand to 27 exam rooms and grow to provide jobs to 15 staff members.

ACCG Regional Meetings Now Underway

Regional Meetings have officially started. This week five Georgia counties welcomed commissioners, ACCG staff, and legislators from across the state to network and join in discussion about important issues being faced by local communities.
