Macon-Bibb County Releases More Details on New Amphitheater

Macon-Bibb County recently released the final renderings of its new amphitheater, slated to be built at the Macon Mall. The amphitheater will include three seating areas: 2,500 fixed seats in a stepped seating bowl; 1,500 temporary seats on a flat floor between the fixed seats and stage; and 6,000 lawn seats. There will be other concession and retail options around the amphitheater.

Henry County Invests ARPA Funds in Piedmont Hospital Project

The Henry County Board of Commissioners recently voted unanimously to approve the designation of $3.5 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds for the construction of a new observation unit at Piedmont Hospital. The work is estimated to take about six months to complete once underway.

Clayton County Schools to Add

25 Electric Buses Thanks to EPA Grant

Clayton County Board of Commissioners Chairman Jeffrey Turner recently joined Clayton County Public School officlals to celebrate the receipt of a $10 million Environmental Protection Grant which will be used for the purchase of 25 electric buses.

Haralson County to Use CBDG Grant to Extend Water Lines

Haralson County recently received a $761,930 Community Development Block Grant (CBDG). This grant will be used for water improvements in a low to moderate income area of the county by running approximately 4 miles of water lines to approximately 70 homes. DNR and Meriwether County Officials Open Renovated Boat Ramp

Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) and Meriwether County officials recently cut the ribbon on a renovated boat ramp at River Cove Landing on the Flint River. DNR estimates more than 5,000 users will use this access point each year. River Cove Landing was constructed using federal Sport Fish Restoration funds and matching state funds. Meriwether County provided for the hauling and disposal of renovation demolition debris and will assist with future routine maintenance of the area.

Lowndes County 911 Receives

Reaccreditation through CALEA

Lowndes County 911 recently was awarded reaccreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). The county is one of seven Georgia 911 Centers that currently hold this accreditation. The county was first awarded the accreditation in 2009 and has maintained it ever since.

Newton County Commissioner Participates in NACo Conference to Learn More about Mental Health & Criminal Justice

Newton County Commissioner Alana Sanders recently joined officials from across the country in Toledo, Ohio (Lucas County) to share success stories and ideas about how to reduce the number of people with mental illness and/or substance abuse challenges from entering the criminal justice system. The County Justice Peer Learning Network Conference was coordinated by the National Association of Counties (NACo).
