Governor Kemp Takes a Lunch Break

in Jefferson County

Governor Brian Kemp stopped for lunch at Home Stretch Bistro in Jefferson County with commission members and others (including ACCG President Johnny Davis pictured to the left of Georgia First Lady Marty Kemp) on his way from Athens to Reidsville on Monday. One look at "The Bistro's" Facebook page and you'll see why this Louisville, Georgia spot is a popular destination!

Kemp Cuts the Ribbon on a

New Ag Facility in Jackson County

Governor Brian Kemp also recently cut the ribbon to open the Jackson County Agricultural Facility. This 38,000 square foot facility includes a multipurpose area for preparing animals to be shown in livestock shows (which can be used for other purposes such as small concerts, banquets, etc.), a show arena with bleacher seating for 300, a conference room, and a concession/kitchen area. The county received a $300,000 OneGeorgia Special Purpose Award from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to assist in the construction of this facility. Approximately $1.5 million in private funding also was generated for this project.

Cobb County PARKS Offers

Unique Alternative Events

In these unprecedented times of health concerns and social distancing, Cobb County's PARKS Department has offered a series of drive-in movies and cabarets around the county. With all large event venues still closed due to the pandemic, performances were offered to the public in an outdoor setting where social distancing could be achieved. Every show sold out in a matter of days and residents loved the experience.

Forsyth County Recognizes

the Work of Family Promise

Each year, an estimated 4.2 million youth and adults experience homelessness. This week, the Forsyth County Commission recognized the work of Family Promise of Forsyth County, Inc. and their 500 plus volunteers that empower local families in making the transition from homelessness to sustainable independence. They also proclaimed the week of Oct. 18 - 25 as Family Promise Week in Forsyth County.
