County Officials Attend the 2023 Legislative Leadership Conference in Glynn County


ACCG hosted more than 300 county officials at this year's Legislative Leadership Conference in Glynn County. During the conference, the ACCG membership voted on the association's 2024 Policy Agenda and Legislative Priorities. The top three Legislative Priorities for 2024 are Mental and Behavioral Health, Property Tax Assessment and Appeal Reform, and Emergency Medical Services.

Cobb County Police Department Real Time Crime Center Named Center of the Year


Members of the Cobb County Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center attended the National Real Time Crime Center Conference and were named National Real Time Crime Center of the Year. Chief of Police Stuart VanHoozer spoke with the crime center analysts to congratulate them and thank them for their hard work and dedication to keeping Cobb County safe.

Putnam County Fire Department Receives One of Two Fire Boats


The Putnam County Fire Department has received one of two fire boats that will be added to their fleet. The new boats will allow for the Fire Department to better respond to incidents in Lake Oconee and Lake Sinclair.

ACCG Associate Director of Governmental Affairs Attends Atlanta Regional Commission Regional Leadership Institute


This year’s Atlanta Regional Commission‘s Regional Leadership Institute took place in Lake Lanier where leaders from various sectors across the region convened to discuss and engage in key regional issues. Martha Revelo, ACCG’s Associate Director of Government Affairs, Chairwoman Carlotta Harrell, and Commissioner Natalie Hall were among this year’s cohort.

Rockdale County Fire Rescue Transforms Fire Truck for Breast Cancer Awareness Month


In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Rockdale County Fire Rescue recently transformed one of their fire trucks to honor those currently fighting breast cancer. The now pink truck is covered in handwritten messages of hope and encouragement for breast cancer fighters and survivors. Throughout October, Engine 8 will be displayed at events and locations across the county to show support and spread awareness about breast cancer.

Cherokee County DUI Court Selected as CACJ Model Court


The Council of Accountability Court Judges (CACJ) selected Cherokee County as a "Model Court" for 2024-2026 during the CACJ Annual Conference in Athens-Clarke County. The Model Court Project recognizes courts that have exceeded state standards and national practices. As a model court, the Cherokee County DUI Court will serve as a resource to other accountability courts in need of information or advice.

Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Proclaims Two Observances


During the October 5 meeting, the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners Recognized two observances. The Board proclaimed the week of October 1-7, 2023, as 4-H Week to recognize the efforts of those who work to teach valuable life and reading skills to children. October 15-21, 2023, was proclaimed Family Promise Week to recognize families who face homelessness in the Forsyth community.

Henry County Manager Awarded "Female CEO of the Year" Award from Kaiser Permanente During Run, Walk and Roll Walk


Henry County staff attended the Kaiser Permanente Run, Walk, and Roll 40th Anniversary 5K in Fulton County. During the event, Kaiser Permanente presented Henry County Manager Cheri Hobson-Matthews the "Female CEO of the Year" award.
