The ACCG County Reconnect Conference at the Savannah Convention Center is just under two weeks away! Be on the lookout for a registration box to arrive at your county office in the next few days. Sending registration information in advance will help to reduce lines on site and is just one of the safety measures ACCG has put in place this year. We look forward to seeing you in person very soon!
Happy Halloween from Troup County
Troup County hosted a pumpkin carving contest for all employees to celebrate the start of Halloween weekend. The Troup County Court Services Department won first place with their pumpkin display, which featured set pieces and characters inspired by the 1960's sitcom, "The Munsters."
ACCG Legislative Service Award Presented to Rep. Bert Reeves
ACCG Associate Legislative Director Kathleen Bowen presented Rep. Bert Reeves (District 34) with a 2021 Legislative Service Award this week at a Cobb County Board of Commissioners meeting. Reeves was honored for his work on HB 511. This legislation, for which ACCG has long advocated, dedicates nine trust funds including the Hazardous Waste and Solid Waste trust funds for their intended purposes. 
Chattooga County Kicks off
Hunters Ending Hunger Program
Chattooga County's newest program, Hunters Ending Hunger, recently received a grant from Chattooga County Family Connections for new freezers. The program was created by Allison Agnew from the Northwest Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition. She is collaborating with Carla Harward of Helping Hands Ending Hunger, the Chattooga County Schools, Live Healthy Chattooga, Chattooga County Family Connections, and Weesner's Wild Game Processing.

McDuffie County Celebrates
150th Anniversary
McDuffie County recently celebrated its 150th anniversary with a bang! Ceremonial pieces of the bonds from the government complex were burned as part of the event. The county's special anniversary was actually last year, but the celebration was delayed due to COVID-19.
Catoosa County Officials Break Ground on College and Career Academy
Catoosa County Public Schools, Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce, Catoosa County Board of Commissioners and the business community recently broke ground on the Catoosa County College and Career Academy. Construction will begin on the Benton Place Campus for the two floor, 80,000 square foot building that is scheduled to be completed August, 2023. Students attending this school will graduate with college credit and technical college certificates and will be prepared for high-demand, good paying careers in the region.

About Avis: When she’s not at the front desk Avis is either travelling, spending time with her family, attending plays and concerts or going shopping. She once went shopping for 16 hours straight before going home to rest for 2 hours and going back out to shop some more. She loves looking for bargains, couponing and getting more for her money. Her family consists of her heartbeats and occasional headaches, her daughters Arion (22), Aaliyah (16) and granddaughter Skylar (15 months).
