Keep Jackson County Beautiful Awarded Community Improvement Grant

Keep Jackson County Beautiful (KJCB) was recently awarded a $10,000 MLK Community Improvement Grant from Keep America Beautiful. The grant will be used to fund a mural that will be designed and installed within the City of Commerce’s Ward 1 around the time of KJCB’s MLK Day of Service.

Cherokee County Communications Director Wins National Award

 

Cherokee County Communications Director Erika Neldner won a national award for graphic design during the National Information Officers Association’s (NIOA) Annual Conference. Neldner received first place for Top Graphic Design Product for print and social media event materials for the Cherokee County Fire Marshal’s Office and Safe Kids Cherokee County.

GCIP Intern Embraces New Experiences in Henry County


In Henry County, accounting major Nick Stephens interned with the stormwater department to gain new experiences and broaden his knowledge. During the internship, he was involved in pond inspections, water sampling, project management, and shadowed project managers while also assisting with citizen calls.

Wild Adventures Partners with Lowndes County Animal Shelter

During the nation's largest adoption event, 'Clear the Shelter,' Wild Adventures Theme Park partnered with the Lowndes County Animal Shelter to help three puppies find their 'furever' homes. The adopted puppies celebrated with a fun-filled day at Splash Island Waterpark, showcasing the joy pets can bring into our lives.

Gilmer County Boosts Fire Safety

with New Truck

Gilmer County recently upgraded its emergency services with the purchase of a new fire truck. The new addition was funded by SPLOST dollars.

Office of Public Safety Support Serves the Ones Who Serve Georgia

The Office of Public Safety Support (OPSS) Director Wes Horne, Deputy Director Stacey Collins, and Kylo participated in the Joint Training Session for the ACCG Insurance Programs’ Boards. The OPSS was created to mitigate the potential psychological impact that traumatic events can have on the members of Georgia’s public safety community. Using peer counselors and mental health professionals, OPSS strives to provide first responders with the support they need at no charge. Click here to learn more. 

Dawson County Employees Receive Fire Extinguisher Training

Dawson County employees got hands on training for extinguishing fires. Thanks to the Dawson County Fire and Emergency Services, the employees have a better understanding of how to extinguish different types of fires and how to handle a fire extinguisher.

ACCG Policy Council Attends Annual Joint Policy Council Meeting

ACCG Policy Council members participated in an annual joint meeting in Gwinnett County with the Georgia Municipal Association's Policy Council to discuss issues of mutual interest and determine the best approach to addressing those issues. Following the joint meeting, the ACCG Policy Council met separately to approve the proposed 2025 ACCG Policy Agenda.
