Camden County Carries Out Operation Guardian 2022

Camden County Emergency Management Agency (EMA), working in coordination with Camden County Schools, carried out Operation Guardian 2022Guardian 2022 was developed and conducted to address potential safety and security threats that could be faced by the Camden County Schools. Guardian 2022 included, but was not limited to, conducting comprehensive formal surveys of all Camden County Schools, as well as conducting focused evaluation of current physical security, policies, and plans.  

Glynn County's "100 Mile Challenge" Recognized by Local News

Glynn County's "100 Mile Challenge" was recognized by the Brunswick News for its dedication to putting the health and wellness of county employees first. The challenge, funded through an ACCG-Group Health Benefits Program Health Promotion & Wellbeing Grant, invited county employees to walk  at least 50 miles and up to 100 miles within three months. Activity was tracked through the Nike Run app. More than one quarter of the county's 117 staff members participated. 

Southern State County Associations Gather in Chatham County for CSCA Annual Conference

ACCG hosted other southern state county associations and NACo representatives in Chatham County for this year's Conference of Southern County Associations (CSCA) Annual Conference. Attendees gathered on Georgia's coast to discuss issues ranging from lobbying strategies and tactics, to what it means to operate as a post-COVID association, and modern housing issues faced by counties. They also explored one of Georgia's main economic drivers while on a tour of the Port of Savannah.

Columbus-Muscogee Officials Help United Way of Chattahoochee Valley Kick Off Fundraising Campaign

State and local officials, as well as community leaders, gathered at the Columbus Convention and Trade Center to help the United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley kick off its 2022 fundraising campaign. The organization's fundraising goal of $7.5 million will invest in programs that meet a need in one of three areas for United Way - economic mobility, educational equity, and health access. The kickoff celebration boasted approximately 700 community supporters.

Chattooga County Breaks Ground on Freestanding Emergency Department

Local and state officials, along with representatives from Atrium Health Floyd, broke ground on the Freestanding Emergency Department in Chattooga County. The new facility will provide 24/7 emergency care to residents in the Chattooga County community and surrounding areas. It is scheduled to open in 2023.
