ACCG and GMA Engage in Key Federal Discussions in D.C.

ACCG and GMA's legislative teams recently visited Washington, D.C. for a series of discussions with key federal agencies and leaders, including the White House Administration and the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). They also engaged with congressional representatives, as well as NACo staff, to address important topics such as infrastructure, housing, public safety, and other issues impacting cities and counties across Georgia. 

ACCG and GMA engaged with the White House Administration to address the needs of local government, focusing on issues like housing, infrastructure, and public safety.

The group connected with the U.S. Department of Transportation to discuss the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) and the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

The group met with NACo policy staff to discuss county priorities and explore opportunities for collaboration on county-city related issues. 

Baldwin County Hosts "Match in Milledgeville" Cycling Event 


Bike Walk Baldwin hosted the Southeast's largest racing event, the "Match in Milledgeville," drawing over 5,000 visitors for a weekend of racing and mountain biking. The event took place at the newly opened Walter B. Williams Jr. Park Mountain Bike Trail which was developed through donations, volunteer efforts, and the state's permission to build on the land.

GCIP Intern Develops Practical Skills in Hall County

 

Ana Grace Stephens, a business finance major at Freed-Hardeman University, interned with Hall County's parks and community services department, where she collaborated with the finance team to develop historical financial reports. She analyzed monthly revenues and expenditures, created trend reports for improved fund management, and helped implement a cashless payment system.

Gwinnett County Streamlines Tag Renewals with Upgraded Motor Vehicle Kiosks


The Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner’s Office is improving motor vehicle services by partnering with Intellectual Technology Inc. and the Georgia Department of Driver Services to upgrade tag renewal kiosks at Kroger and Publix stores. This initiative aims to improve access for customers by allowing them to renew their driver's licenses and ID cards directly at these locations.
